Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – Lanayru Temple Walkthrough

Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Lanayru Temple Walkthrough

As a seasoned adventurer with countless hours spent traversing the mystical realms of Hyrule, I can confidently guide you through the labyrinthine Rolling Ball puzzle in Lanayru Temple. First and foremost, summon thy Ignizol or any fire-wielding Echo, bind it to the Orb, and use it to melt the icy grip that holds the ball captive. Once the cutscene unfolds, repeat the process to freeze the area anew, creating a smooth, frozen surface for our round companion to roll down effortlessly.

No matter which route you decide to take through The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Lanayru Temple is one of the last dungeons Zelda can take on. Though Holy Mount Lanayru is actually located further away, you can get here by traversing the Hebra Mountains in the center north of the world map as you progress the “Lands of the Goddesses” quest.

Following assistance from Conde and conquering the chilly Hebra Mountain region, Zelda will eventually discover the location of the Lanayru Temple hidden within the Tranquil World. This late-game dungeon is quite intricate and includes a mechanism that necessitates extensive backtracking – unless you’re aware of the appropriate pathway and sequence.

This manual provides instructions on overcoming the Lanayru Temple labyrinth. It offers comprehensive explanations for its Heat and Freeze system, along with tips for battling its ultimate adversary – Skorchill, who seems to be a stand-in for Conde’s missing sibling.

Lanayru Temple Echoes of Wisdom Walkthrough

Entrance & First Lanayru Temple Heat Puzzle

Upon stepping through the initial entrance of the Lanayru Temple, you’ll find yourself facing two doors and a concealed ladder descending from behind some ice on your left. Start by exploring the room on the right side first, where you’ll notice an empty pedestal and a Fire Orb situated over a water gap.

Attach yourself to the orb and cautiously navigate your return journey over the water, with the aim of delivering it to the vacant pedestal.

Since it needs to remain in its Flame mode, the Orb will activate the fan in the center and liquefy the ice.

As a gamer, I gotta be real careful here: Don’t let that Orb slip from my grip or bump into anything, ’cause it’ll just reset its spot. My goal is to link up with this Orb and guide it back to the empty pedestal without causing any damage or changes to its state. If it touches Cold damage, though, watch out – it’ll transform into a Cold state and freeze the entire connected room!

After melting the ice in the central area, you have two options:

Second Lanayru Temple Heat Puzzle & Small Key

After leaving the scrolling view, ascend into the following chamber to discover a sizable fan attached to a room on your left, flanked by two icy walls. Proceed towards the adjoining room on the left to encounter an Orb, an empty pedestal, and a Freeze Launcher positioned between them, but separated from reach by impenetrable bars.

Call forth a large stone near the Ice Cannon, and afterward, seize the Fire Orb and move it to the Standing Stone.

So far as the Orb remains un-frozen, the main chamber will start melting, exposing two large bodies of water on each side of the fan. Explore the now-melted chamber and search for the Small Key hidden beneath the water on its left side.

Employ tall Echoes to seal off the vents releasing gas on the right, then ascend using a Platboom to reach the locked door. With your Small Key, unlock this door and proceed through Echoes of Wisdom’s Lanayru Dungeon to the second side-scrolling section.

The Third Lanayru Temple Heat Puzzle & Pressure Plates

In this region, Zelda has two options: she can summon Echoes, link with them, and guide them towards the ice blasters’ path to dodge harm; or she could opt for an Ice Proof potion or shake instead, thus bypassing potential damage. Regardless of the choice, navigate your way rightwards and exit to advance to another section of the dungeon.

Move towards the area on your right, as shown from this overhead view. You can either employ Platbooms (alternatively, any other objects capable of obstructing ice vents) to help you navigate there. Once you reach the room, you’ll discover the third “Echoes of Wisdom” Heat Puzzle in Lanayru Temple.

In this location, there’s a substantial ice barrier dividing the room, preventing Zelda from reaching the right. On the contrary, a descending ladder can be found on the left side. Descend the ladder first, then scale the side-scrolling area’s climbing wall to discover a Fire Orb nestled at its lowest point.

Establish some Echoes on your descent route, strategically positioning them to the left side of the climbing area (the most distant location), as a precaution against the Freeze blasters. Afterward, link with the Orb and exercise caution while maneuvering it to the room’s summit, ensuring you don’t shatter or transform it into a Freeze form before depositing it in its pedestal.

After dissolving the massive wall from the previous chamber, make your way back, then proceed through the door on the right-hand side. You’ll notice two pressure sensitive areas there, one directly beneath the entrance and another on a platform to the right. It’s crucial that you activate both of these pressure plates simultaneously.

There are several methods to solve this puzzle, but the simplest approach is to call forth an Armos when standing on the pressure plate located on the right side. Once the Armos is about to leap onto the plate, Zelda should quickly jump onto the platform adjacent to the entrance at that exact instant.

For solving this puzzle, you’re welcome to employ any device that moves in a consistent pattern, similar to the unidirectional Lava Slimes.

Unlock the appearing Treasure Chest to acquire a Small Key, and subsequently retrace your steps to the prior chamber. In this room, you’ll notice a locked door situated in the upper left corner.

After opening the door, move left to encounter a group of adversaries. Overpower them all, and subsequently, a new Treasure Chest will appear, holding this time the valuable Dungeon Map.

Keep moving to your left, reach the designated spot which we call the Waypoint, and then proceed upward until you encounter the Lanayru Temple dungeon miniboss – a Green Slime that divides into smaller duplicates.

Lanayru Dungeon Green Slime Miniboss

In the heart of Lanayru Dungeon, the colossal Green Slime miniboss makes its appearance. To defeat this formidable foe, Zelda must strategically employ her Freeze Echoes, which can penetrate its unyielding gooey exterior. For optimal results, she should utilize the powerful Freezard echo, a creature that pursues enemies, unleashes continuous Freeze attacks, and allows for multiple summons to freeze the boss more swiftly.

A good backup is the Ice Octo, which will rapidly fire Ice bolts at the boss, but doesn’t build the Frozen condition as quickly.

After freezing it, activate the Swordfighter form (or call forth a powerful echo similar to a level 3 Darknut) and attack relentlessly. Once it has taken enough damage, it will split into two smaller versions. Repeat this process, but make sure to maintain some distance from the bosses so you can summon new echoes as your current ones are inevitably destroyed.

After every Slime has divided itself four times, it won’t divide again. To conquer the Green Slime miniboss effectively, it’s advisable to focus on defeating one Slime at a time.

If you eliminate each miniboss equally, you’ll encounter eight of them simultaneously in the final stage, but if you concentrate on defeating the weakest slime that’s still active one by one, you can avoid a swarm of mini-slimes at the end.

Once you conquer the boss, make your way down the ladder located nearby to access the side-scrolling Brazier puzzle. In this subterranean part, Zelda needs to ignite four torches to unlock the door ahead (positioned at the bottom-left corner of the side-scrolling zone).

In the labyrinth, certain Braziers can be illuminated using an Ignizol, while others necessitate Zelda to either call forth an Ignizol from afar or summon and bind one, then transport it to inaccessible spots.

After lighting all four torches, the door will unlock, allowing you to proceed deeper into the dungeon’s second portion. In this area, Zelda needs to figure out a combination of heating and cooling mechanisms to accurately roll a massive snowball for the acquisition of the large key.

The Lanayru Big Key & Rolling Ball Puzzle

In the concluding part of Lanayru Temple’s labyrinth, Zelda needs to find a solution for making a massive ball move and hit a large lever. By pressing a tiny switch near where you are standing, you set off the rolling motion of the ball.

The challenge lies in the fact that there are numerous icicles obstructing the path, and unfortunately, the region intended for rolling is now thawed at present.

To help Zelda conquer the Rolling Ball challenge, she needs to initially soften the area and subsequently refreeze it so as to establish a slick, gliding-friendly terrain for the ball to effortlessly traverse.

Go into the room that’s across from the big key, which is to your south. Disregard the ice wall and Orb in this area for now, and proceed downwards. In the following room, you will notice a frozen area below you and a large fan connected to a room on the right. Enter the room on the right, then ascend to find another Orb puzzle. The key rooms are located upwards from the room with the connected fan on the right.

As you traverse the ice stage that arcs towards the Fire Orb, take out any foes you encounter and either blast through or move aside any ice obstacles. Since you can conjure Echoes while linking to the Orb, although it might require careful planning, you could instead use an Aerial Tile Echo to leap over the ice path’s entirety, rather than circumnavigating it entirely.

After you’ve swept away all obstacles, or choose the Flying Tile approach, Attach to the Fire Orb and tread carefully towards the room’s entrance. Position the Fire Orb on the pedestal to trigger the fan in the preceding room that generates heat.

Retrace your steps and delve into this chamber with Tectites to uncover another Treasure Chest. After that, return to the previously melted room by going to the left. To activate the underwater lever, move left and use a substantial, non-buoyant Echo (similar to a Boulder). This will open the door in that direction.

Head towards the upper-left corner of this room, then proceed to your left to discover another Orb puzzle enclosed within a cage-like structure.

This time, you’ll find three outlets: two hot and one cold. First, block the right-side hot vent. Next, guide the Orb through the Hot vent, followed by the Cold vent, and finally, maneuver it beyond the blocked one to freeze the previous room.

Go back to the room that’s now frozen solid and observe the two pressure sensitive platforms located in opposite corners. Similar to before, these platforms need to be triggered simultaneously. Since the room is frozen, you can employ a strategy similar to what was used earlier: summon an Armos or Fire Slime slightly off from one of the platforms, and leap onto the other platform at the exact instant your summoned ally is about to reach its intended target. If executed properly, the door to the north will unlock.

Move into the next room where you’ll encounter a mini-boss called the White Wolfos. This creature often calls upon two extra Wolfos by its side. As more Wolfos are defeated, it may summon even more. It is crucial to concentrate on defeating the mini-boss. You can use Echoes to distract the other two Wolfos, which will help you open the doors and proceed upwards.

In this particular space, there’s a pedestal located at the bottom-right corner that’s cordoned off. Additionally, a trail circles the room, commencing on the left side. This trail is dotted with Ice Blocks and Freezard adversaries, so be mindful to move these obstructions aside and employ some powerful Echoes to defeat all enemies along the circular path.

After making sure your route is safe, attach yourself to the Fire Orb, and subsequently, proceed with caution along the perimeter of the room to position it upon the pedestal that’s been obstructed.

The pedestal you disregarded earlier, located south of the boss key and warming up the room, now opens a path to the puzzle room with the Rolling Ball. To return to this starting point, head right first, then proceed downwards to reach the previously ignored room that’s now melted.

The Ice Wall that once divided the room has disappeared, allowing Zelda to utilize the Orb within the room to solve the rolling ball puzzle by freezing and melting it.

  • Start by summoning an Ignizol or your choice of Fire-creating Echo. Then, Bind to the Orb, drag it over your Fire Echo, then place it on the Pedestal to melt the Icicles in the Rolling Ball puzzle room.
  • After the cutscene plays, Bind to the Orb once again, and simply drag it onto the pedestal to re-freeze the Ball Rolling room.

This forms a smooth, stationary path for the ball to travel along. To solve the Echoes of Wisdom Lanayru Temple Rolling Ball challenge, just press the button near the chest containing the Big Key. Once you do, it should activate the big switch, remove the bars that separate Zelda and the Big Key, and open up a path.

After acquiring the essential key, make your way to the room located on the farthest right side of the Rolling Ball puzzle chamber. There, you’ll discover a crucial marker (Waypoint) and the entrance leading to the Lanayru Dungeon’s final boss, Skorchill.

Echoes of Wisdom Skorchill Boss Guide

The Skorchill boss might seem a bit intimidating, but as long as you have a way to deal ranged Ice and Fire damage, it’s actually quite easy.

As the battle commences, the boss will put on a Frozen Helm atop its head and start attacking Zelda. Meanwhile, while the boss is preoccupied with Zelda, summon a distant Fire Spirit (akin to a Fire Wizard or a Fire Octopus) and lock onto the boss’ helmet.

When you inflict sufficient Fire damage on the boss’s Frozen helmet, it will become temporarily stunned, offering you a window of opportunity. During this period, you can transform into Swordfighter Form, call forth a powerful Echo, and attack relentlessly.

Once it’s fully healed, it progresses to Phase 2 and puts on a Fire Helmet. This new form brings forth a variety of Fire attacks, many of which are ranged, making them harder to dodge. To counter the Fire-enhanced boss, call upon a long-range Ice Echo (similar to an Ice Wizzrobe or Ice Octo) while maintaining your lock-on to its head again.

During this stage, Skorchill is likely to eliminate your Echoes swiftly. Therefore, it’s wise to have them ready for frequent resurrections.

When you inflict sufficient Ice damage on its Fire helmet, the boss will once more become stunned. Then, transform into Swordfighter Form and continue attacking it until it advances to Phase 3.

In the later stages, the boss alternates between its Ice and Fire Helmets frequently, changing both its attack patterns and vulnerabilities simultaneously. Keep an eye out for the Skorchill boss’ charge-up signal and prepare a long-range counter of the opposite type in advance. Remember to consume Smoothies when your health gets low and keep summoning counters as they are defeated.

Ultimately, the boss will be left in a state of shock for the final time. Gather your most potent Echo once more, transform into Swordfighter Form, and deliver the decisive blow against this counterfeit version of Conde’s brother – simultaneously sealing the Mount Lanayru Rift, earning an additional Heart Container, and aiding Conde in uncovering the truth about his brother.
