Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Reveal Plans Leaked

A rumor is circulating that Nintendo might announce a complete remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during their Nintendo Direct presentation in June. According to Hugo Gaming, who reported on comments from known Nintendo leaker Nash Weedle, the remake is potentially slated for release in late 2026. The information originally surfaced on a recent podcast and was further discussed on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.

Rumors suggest that instead of simply updating the graphics, Nintendo is completely rebuilding Ocarina of Time from the ground up. According to one report, the project was first discussed in 2022, and the team at Monolith Soft, known for Xenoblade Chronicles, is supposedly helping with development. However, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything, so fans should take this information with a grain of salt until an official announcement. Currently, Nintendo’s official Legend of Zelda website details existing games and upcoming releases, but makes no mention of a remake of Ocarina of Time.

The Rumored Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Could Be Bigger Than Expected

The most interesting part of this leak is the possibility that Nintendo is planning a much more extensive remake of Ocarina of Time than many fans anticipated. While it’s mostly speculation, one source compared the potential scale to Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Based on that, some believe Nintendo might split the remake into two games: one focusing on young Link and another on adult Link.

The main problem with that idea is that the original Ocarina of Time is designed around the player switching between young and adult Link, which is central to its puzzles, dungeons, and the way the world evolves. Releasing a remake in two separate parts would be a significant change from the original game, and many fans on Reddit wondered if it would even work well. Some also believe this is just speculation, inspired by the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and not necessarily something Nintendo is considering.

Despite some uncertainty, most of the rumor about a possible Ocarina of Time remake fits with what fans have been hoping for. If Nintendo decides to fully revisit this Nintendo 64 classic, completely rebuilding the game would be the best approach to modernize it, rather than just improving the graphics. It also makes sense that Monolith Soft might be involved, considering their previous work assisting with large Nintendo games.

As a huge fan, I always knew Monolith Soft had a big hand in making some of my favorite Zelda games! They weren’t just involved in one or two, but actually helped create Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds, Breath of the Wild, and even the amazing Tears of the Kingdom. It’s awesome to see how much they’ve contributed to the series.

Currently, the most important point is that we might find out about the remake sooner than we thought. If the rumors are true, Nintendo could announce it during a Nintendo Direct in June 2026 and release it before the end of that year. This would be a huge announcement for the company, considering how important and well-loved Ocarina of Time is.

Look, until Nintendo actually says something, everything we’re hearing is just a rumor. But the thought of a completely remade Ocarina of Time? That’s enough to get me hyped! If that rumor about a Nintendo Direct announcement in June is true, then Zelda fans – and honestly, me – might not have to wait too long to find out if this classic is really getting the massive comeback it deserves.
