10 Plot Threads JackSepticEyes’ Bloodborne Movie Should Explore

Bloodborne stands out as the most original game in the ‘Soulsborne’ series created by FromSoftware, and now popular YouTuber JackSepticEye is working with Sony to turn it into a mature, animated movie. JackSepticEye isn’t the only gamer-turned-filmmaker; Markiplier recently released his own movie, Iron Lung, in early 2026.

I’m excited to see JackSepticEye, a gamer who understands video games as an art form, tackle the intricate world and unsettling story of Bloodborne. His film has a lot of potential storylines to cover, and some are definitely more important or captivating than others. Here are a few ideas that would be great to see him explore.

10. Laurence

The Beginning of Yharnam’s Blood Problem

Laurence was the initial Vicar and became convinced that ancient blood possessed divine qualities and could elevate humankind. Despite Willem’s warnings about its dangers, Laurence dismissed them and traveled to Yharnam with other scholars, intending to share what he believed was the blood’s healing power.

Laurence established the Healing Church and significantly sparked the chain of events you see unfold in the game, making his inclusion in the film feel essential. His part in setting Yharnam’s tragic fate in motion is simply too important to ignore.

9. The Fishing Hamlet

The Origin of the Hunters’ Curse

The incident at Fishing Hamlet was a turning point for the Hunters. After Kos’s body washed ashore, the villagers underwent significant changes. Kos was already deceased, but she was pregnant and carried parasites which likely caused the villagers’ transformations, and they may have even consumed these parasites as food.

When the villagers began to change, scholars and Hunters arrived to study what was happening. Instead of helping, they began to dissect both Kos and the villagers in pursuit of knowledge, and ultimately stole the fetus that would become the Orphan of Kos boss. This act is widely believed to be the origin of the curse affecting Hunters.

8. Ludwig

A Pivotal Hero Turned Into a Fearsome Beast

Ludwig worked with the Healing Church as a Hunter, but he went above and beyond his duties by training others to fight the beasts. By teaching people to defend themselves, he ultimately brought the community together against a shared threat.

Ludwig, like so many others, eventually succumbed to his violent instincts and became a monster, attacking both Hunters and other beasts without discrimination. What makes Ludwig’s story unique is that he possessed a blade that seemed to have a mind of its own, enabling him to connect with the universe, and this connection likely influenced his tragic downfall.

7. Gehrman

The First Hunter Should Be In the Film

Gehrman was among the first to recognize the growing beast problem, and he took action by becoming the original Hunter. Not only was he a skilled fighter, but he also became a teacher and inventor, training others in beast hunting and creating tools to aid them.

As a huge fan, I always loved how Gehrman helped me throughout the game – giving me access to his workshop and tools so I could get stronger and take on tougher enemies. Because he was such a key mentor figure, I really think it’d be awesome to see him in the movie, even if it’s just a small role or he’s in the background. It just feels right to have him there!

6. The Hunter’s Dream

Gehrman’s Assurance that There Will Always Be Hunters

Gehrman knew he couldn’t continue hunting beasts or training Hunters forever – he wasn’t immortal. But he discovered a way to overcome death by creating the Hunter’s Dream. This dreamlike place is based on his old workshop, though it isn’t a real location.

The Hunter’s Dream serves as a central safe haven in Bloodborne, where players can improve their character and equipment. Given its significance to both the game’s story and how it’s played, it should be included in any film adaptation set after the Dream’s establishment.

5. Eileen

The Hunter Who Hunts Hunters

Eileen plays a special part in the world of Bloodborne. Becoming a Hunter often drives people insane due to their reliance on blood. When a Hunter loses their mind, they become a threat to others instead of the guardian they should be, especially considering the helpless are unable to defend themselves against the monstrous beasts.

I’m really fascinated by Eileen! She’s a Hunter whose job is to take down other Hunters who’ve lost it – basically, she stops them from hurting people. It’s a small part of the bigger story, but I think it adds a lot to the world-building and shows how dangerous being a Hunter can be. It’s a detail I’d love to see them explore more in the movie!

4. Rom

The Barrier’s Last Defense

Beating Rom in Bloodborne fundamentally changes how you experience the game. It unlocks a new layer of reality, allowing you to see things that were previously invisible, like the Red Moon and the Lesser Amygdala.

Rom maintained the protective barrier that hid people from the terrifying world around them, whether intentionally or out of some inherent function. His death caused that barrier to fall. Because of this significant change, exploring Rom’s death—and the reason for the barrier itself—feels crucial to the film’s story.

3. The Healing Church

The Center of Most Problems

Laurence founded the Healing Church, which became known for its Blood Ministrations – a practice using ancient blood to heal people. However, the blood had a dangerous side effect: it was addictive, and those who were healed often became dependent on it.

Although the Healing Church initially contributed to the rise of the beast plague, it later became a major source of Hunters who fought against it – even though the church never officially worked with them. Given how central the church is to the use of old blood, it’s essential to include them in the movie.

2. Queen Yharnam

Her Story Could Be Its Own Movie

Yharnam was a Pthumerian Queen who became pregnant after the Old Ones arrived, and her child was Mergo. The city of Yharnam is named in her honor. Unfortunately, the arrival of the Old Ones drastically changed her life, and she was forced to bear a child destined to become a powerful Great One.

Yharnam’s appearance immediately hints at her tragic story. When we first encounter her, she’s restrained, and her dress is covered in blood. This suggests she was held captive after becoming pregnant with a Great One, likely to guarantee the birth of Mergo. Once Mergo was born, Yharnam was no longer needed and was left in the care of Mergo’s Wet Nurse.

1. Lady Maria

Maria Spends Her Death Guarding the Hamlet

Lady Maria was an early Hunter, trained by Gehrman. She was part of the group that explored the Fishing Hamlet, and whatever they found there deeply troubled her. This led to her suicide, and during your battle with her in the Astral Clocktower, she repeatedly emphasizes that the dead should remain undisturbed.

Lady Maria is a compelling character who prefers to prove herself through skill rather than her lineage as a member of the Cainhurst family. Her backstory is rich enough to support a whole movie, and I’d happily watch it. If a film were to focus on the history of the Hunters before the events of the game, Maria would be a crucial character to feature.

The Soulsborne games are incredibly rich with detailed stories – enough to fill entire TV series. While a movie is all we’re getting for now, it’s reassuring that someone familiar with the games is leading the Bloodborne film’s production, increasing the chances it will stay true to the source material.
