- Aranea Highwind in Final Fantasy 15 is an iconic femme fatale with a sudden, impactful presence, joining Noctis’ crew in the game.
As a dedicated gamer, I can confidently say that I’m deeply hooked on the incredible world of Final Fantasy. This video game series is nothing short of legendary, boasting a rich tapestry of unforgettable characters. While the main protagonists undeniably leave a lasting impression and are iconic in their own right, it’s the supporting cast that often steals the show for me.
Abundant with recurring figures and cherished characters who significantly contribute to the plot, Final Fantasy boasts an array of captivating side characters. At times, it’s not uncommon for these personas to steal the limelight from the main character, making them just as adored.
8. Biggs & Wedge
Recurring Characters Who Are Legendary In The Series
- Multiple Final Fantasy games
Biggs and Wedge are long-time companions who have featured together in different installments of the “Final Fantasy” series. They notably teamed up as part of AVALANCHE in “Final Fantasy 7,” and they were also present as Imperial troopers accompanying Terra at the start of “Final Fantasy 6.
No matter what, it’s undeniable that these two characters have a strong connection within the game. Viewers are always thrilled when they get to see these characters together, as it’s a delightful experience for fans every time they share the limelight.
7. Laguna Loire (Final Fantasy 8)
Squall’s Father Is Quite Charismatic
In the game Final Fantasy 8, Laguna stands out as one of the enigmatic figures. He appears in various puzzling flashbacks. Only as the story unfolds and more details are revealed does it become apparent just how crucial a role this character plays.
As a gamer, I found it quite heartwarming when I discovered that character Squall shares my virtual father-son bond. It added an extra layer of emotion to our gaming sessions, even though this connection wasn’t explicitly acknowledged within the game. In all likelihood, he might never learn about our real-life connection, but that’s just part of the immersive experience, and it doesn’t diminish my enjoyment one bit.
6. Aranea Highwind (Final Fantasy 15)
An Iconic Femme Fatale
In the world of video games like Final Fantasy 15, characters such as femme fatales can significantly influence the narrative, with their roles being either captivating or troublesome depending on how they’re portrayed. Aranea, for instance, may abruptly appear, but her actions resonate throughout various chapters in the game.
It’s really enjoyable to see her become an ally for Noctis and his group in Final Fantasy 15. Plus, the side stories featuring Prompto make the DLC even more captivating. Although Aranea could have benefited from more character depth, it doesn’t diminish the fun of working alongside this character in the game.
5. Cidolfus “Cid” Telamon (Final Fantasy 16)
A Leader Who Wants To Free Bearers From Their Twisted Fate
In a swift manner, Cid assertively assumes the role of an appealing and audacious scoundrel, staunchly aligning with righteousness. The appalling injustices inflicted upon the Bearers within the realm of Final Fantasy 16 are truly harrowing, yet it’s heartening to witness Cid actively working to rescue those in society who are defenseless and vulnerable.
It’s unfortunate that Cid’s character is written out of Final Fantasy 16‘s storyline rather abruptly, leaving little time for players to fully absorb his departure before the narrative jumps ahead and focuses on Clive instead. Despite this, Cid’s influence lingers throughout the story, testifying to the significant role he played not just among the characters but also in shaping the gaming experience of the players.
4. Gilgamesh (Multiple Games)
Became A Legendary Recurring Character Since His Appearance In FF5
In the game “Final Fantasy 5”, Gilgamesh was both an intimidating leader and a charming jester, participating in some of the franchise’s most memorable scenes. Seeing him exiled by Exdeath into the Void was tough to accept, but this event ultimately had a beneficial impact on the “Final Fantasy” series as a whole.
Gilgamesh’s actions provided an ideal reason for his presence throughout various “Final Fantasy” games. For instance, he filled in for Odin in “Final Fantasy 8”, and in “Final Fantasy 12”, he turned out to be a challenging and distinctive adversary. The unexpected appearances of Gilgamesh across different “Final Fantasy” titles have been delightful to observe.
3. Rydia Of Mist (Final Fantasy 4)
Transformed From A Hapless Girl Into A Powerful Summoner
In the early stages of the game, Rydia is shown as a young girl who tragically loses her mother and her entire village due to Cagnazzo’s wicked scheme. For the first time, she summons a Titan, and reluctantly forms an alliance with Cecil as they embark on their adventures together.
Not long after she was seized by a Kraken, she found herself in the realm of the Eidolons, where she rapidly gained wisdom and aged swiftly. By the time Cecil and his companions encountered her again, she had transformed into a formidable summoner with a particular knack for dark magic.
2. Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy 7)
Cloud’s Childhood Friend Who Helps Him See The Light
Tifa Lockheart is widely recognized as one of the standout characters from the world of Final Fantasy, boasting several compelling aspects. While it’s true that her appeal to fans is undeniable, what often goes unnoticed is her significant contribution to Cloud’s memory recovery.
In due course, this critical juncture gave the main character an opportunity to confront and reconcile with his past, after which he returned to the team once more. Without Tifa’s assistance, there’s a strong likelihood that Cloud might have succumbed completely to Sephiroth’s influence in the long run.
1. Vivi Ornitier (Final Fantasy 9)
His Story Will Bring A Tear To The Eyes Of Fans
To this very moment, no other companion in the “Final Fantasy” series stirs up as many tears as Vivi does. This Black Mage possesses a soul full of kindness and is undeniably one of the most endearing party members that fans adore (not only because he’s an exceptionally powerful Black Mage).
Only when Vivi encounters others like himself does he discover the truth. Regrettably, his life span is very limited, and as a result, he cannot even participate in the festivities with his friends following their successful world-saving mission due to his impending demise.
