During the 2025 GO Fest Osaka, Pokemon GO introduces Volcanion, a unique character often referred to as the Steam Pokemon due to its dual typing of Fire and Water. This mythical creature can only be encountered at this event.
2025 GO Fest attendees will be granted early access to capturing Volcanion, while other trainers can catch it during the 2025 Global GO Fest event. This legendary Pokemon boasts outstanding in-game abilities and a diverse and potent move set. Here’s a guide explaining how to obtain Volcanion in Pokemon GO, and whether Shiny Volcanion is featured in the game.
Pokemon GO: Get Volcanion By Completing Research Tasks
At the Pokemon GO Global and In-person Event in 2025, participants will have a chance to come across the Mythical Pokemon, Volcanion. Completing a Research task during the event will earn you this elusive creature as a reward. Ticket holders for the event can embark on a Special Research quest that concludes with a guaranteed encounter with Volcanion upon completion. However, each trainer will only be able to meet Volcanion once, regardless of how many GO Fest 2025 Special Research stories they finish. Instead of another encounter, completing additional stories will reward you with Volcanion Candies.
Pokemon GO: Is Shiny Volcanion Available
Unfortunately, at this time, you won’t find a Shiny Volcanion in Pokemon GO. The developers have so far only released its Standard version. It’s quite uncommon for both the Standard and Shiny variants of Mythical or Legendary Pokemons to appear during the same event. However, there’s a possibility that you may come across a Shiny Volcanion in future events where it is featured.
