2026 will see the continuation of the Gears of War saga with the release of its prequel, Gears of War: E-Day. This instalment, which takes place 14 years before the original Gears of War and 42 years prior to Gears 5, follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they experience the Locust’s surface invasion on Emergence Day firsthand. The upcoming game, Gears of War: Reloaded, will reacquaint both long-time Gears players and new PlayStation enthusiasts with the Gears universe through a remake of the initial Gears of War title. However, there are still many details to be revealed about Gears of War: E-Day.

To date, only one trailer for “Gears of War: E-Day” has been unveiled, showcasing Marcus Fenix battling a Locust Drone amidst the Locust Horde’s attack on Kalona. This trailer indicates that The Coalition is bringing back at least one iconic weapon from past games – the Mark 1 Lancer Assault Rifle or Retro Lancer – for “E-Day”. Starting with “Gears of War: Judgment“, the UIR has gradually been more prominent in recent “Gears” games, enabling “E-Day” to include an initial mission involving Marcus Fenix battling UIR remnants or even depicting UIR remnants engaging Locust forces.
