As a dedicated gamer, I want to share some news that might affect our gaming community. In 2025, at least two more Electronic Arts (EA) games are set to close down, a fact that fellow gamers should keep in mind. It’s not uncommon for EA to shutter games regularly, and sadly, we’ve seen quite a few titles close this year alone. In fact, the beginning of 2025 was particularly harsh, with nine EA games ceasing operations in January. So, let’s keep an eye out for updates and cherish the time we have with our favorite EA games.
To kick off the year, Electronic Arts (EA) closed down several popular titles including Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, seven mobile games, and The Simpsons: Tapped Out. The closure of The Simpsons: Tapped Out was particularly disheartening, as it had cultivated a devoted player base over the years who played daily. EA’s shutdowns didn’t stop there; in February they also closed UFC 3, and in March they closed EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 and NCAA 14.
The latest Electronic Arts (EA) game that ceased operation was Madden NFL 21. As of June 30th, the servers for this game were shut down, preventing players who own the game from completing all its achievements or experiencing all its game modes. Regrettably, two more EA games are expected to close before the end of the year. Madden NFL 22 will shut down on October 20th, and FIFA 23 will follow suit on December 12th. From these dates forward, gamers will lose access to the full experience of these titles and certain game modes. The offline modes will still be accessible, but that’s all.
List of EA Games Shutting Down in 2025
- Rory McIlroy PGA Tour – January 16
- The Simpsons: Tapped Out – January 24
- Blood & Glory Immortals – January 29
- Contract Killer: Sniper – January 29
- Deer Hunter Classic – January 29
- Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores – January 29
- Eternity Warriors 4 – January 29
- Frontline Commando 2 – January 29
- Frontline Commando: D-Day – January 29
- UFC 3 – February 17
- EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 – March 13
- NCAA 14 – March 13
- Madden NFL 21 – June 30
- Madden NFL 22 – October 20
- FIFA 23 – December 12
The closure of FIFA 23 might be particularly disheartening for fans as it’s the final installment to carry the FIFA license from EA. Since then, EA’s soccer game series has been renamed to EA Sports FC. While EA Sports FC plays similarly to FIFA, some may miss the traditional name and feel a sense of loss when the servers for FIFA 23 are shut down permanently on December 12.
Electronic Arts (EA) frequently revises its list of games that are being closed down, and it’s likely that more titles may be shut down before the end of 2025. We already know that one EA game, Anthem, is scheduled to close on January 12, 2026. As a purely online game, Anthem will no longer be accessible after this date. If you’re eager to experience Anthem, it’s recommended that you do so as soon as possible.
