The terrifying survival horror game titled “My Friendly Neighborhood” has attracted a significant number of players on Xbox Game Pass, greatly benefiting Microsoft’s subscription service with its console release in 2023. Developed by John Szymanski and Evan Szymanski, and published by DreadXP, “My Friendly Neighborhood” borrows themes from popular children’s shows such as “The Muppets” and “Sesame Street“, but the chilling adventure is definitely not intended for young viewers.
In late July 2025, “My Friendly Neighborhood” is among several new titles that have been added to Xbox Game Pass. Players are also currently immersed in popular games such as “High on Life” and “RoboCop: Rogue City”. Upcoming additions include the Soulslike action RPG “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers”, which will join the service on July 24, and “Grounded 2”, scheduled for early access on July 29. At present, a peculiar indie horror game is captivating many fans, climbing to the top spot on the Xbox Game Pass for Console chart and generating buzz on social media.
In July 2025, my neighboring friend’s game has become a massive success on Xbox Game Pass, making its long-awaited debut on consoles following its initial PC launch in 2023. Titled as such, players assume the role of Gordon who explores an abandoned children’s TV studio. However, the location is far from vacant; puppets from a canceled show are still present and have mysteriously come to life, transforming into hostile and intelligent beings that chase after the player. To survive, Gordon must either steer clear of these menacing creatures or battle them while navigating a series of brain-teasing puzzles. With an impressive “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, it’s no wonder that many Xbox Game Pass subscribers jumped at the chance to play this gripping game when it became available as a day one release on the service.
Survival Horror Game My Friendly Neighborhood Is #1 on the Xbox Game Pass for Console Chart
Over the past few years, I’ve been captivated by horror games that offer fresh settings and chilling narratives, and “My Friendly Neighborhood” is no exception to this rule. Frankly, it’s hard not to draw parallels between its concept and the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” series. The surprising presence of puppets and mascots as adversaries has resonated with a significant number of gamers, adding an extra layer of dread to these already spine-tingling experiences.
In 2025, we can expect several notable horror games to be released, starting with “Dying Light: The Beast” on August 22, followed by the PC and console debut of “Silent Hill” on September 25. Fans eager for a new Resident Evil installment will have to wait until February 27, 2026, as “Resident Evil Requiem” has been announced for that date.
