It’s only natural to be curious about new video game IPs like Atomfall, which has significant narrative and franchise possibilities. Since it doesn’t have a battle pass or standard multiplayer support, questions about post-launch support are also valid. Developers at Rebellion are busy preparing for its release and planning what’s to come next.
In a recent conversation with Game Rant, the lead designer of Rebellion, Ben Fisher, shared insights on the upcoming direction of Atomfall. While keeping details under wraps, he did disclose the general strategy for the near future of this intellectual property.
Atomfall’s Post-Launch Plans:
- 4-Part Comic Series
- Two DLC Updates
- Sequel? Possibly.
In my perspective as a supporter, “Atomfall” is an immersive game set within the confines of a fictionalized quarantine zone, inspired by the actual Windscale Incident, a nuclear disaster that occurred in 1957 on England’s northwest coast. This dramatic setting forms the basis for an engaging gaming experience. However, the brilliant minds behind “Atomfall,” the action-survival game developers at Rebellion, are thinking beyond this initial storyline. They’re planning to expand the narrative with two DLCs and a four-part comic series for now. Although they may contemplate a sequel down the line, these additional elements will undoubtedly enrich the existing story of “Atomfall.” As Fisher, one of the team members, mentioned.
There’s a strong chance we might create a follow-up to ‘Atomfall’, but our primary focus right now is perfecting the game and releasing the announced DLC content. Additionally, there’s an upcoming 4-part comic miniseries in the 2000 AD Magazine. As of now, we have two planned DLC updates, each exploring unique aspects of the story. I can’t reveal any more details at this time, but keep an eye out for further announcements!
By diverging the narrative into unique paths, we can delve deeper into the various atmospheric influences that inspire the game, such as folk horror or retro-sci-fi. Conversely, this could also signify venturing beyond Atomfall’s typical mood, leading us into uncharted territory with an unexpected and unpredictable direction. Regardless, both options appeal to players, but as Atomfall is set for release on March 27, the main game remains the primary focus at present.
