According to reports, Developer Dragami Games is busy creating a brand-new installment of the quirky game “Lollipop Chainsaw,” as well as an anime adaption. The popularity of this game, first released in 2012, has been revitalized with the recent launch of “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP.” To cater to both returning fans and new players who have joined the bandwagon, the developers are reportedly putting extra effort into developing a fresh take on this peculiar series.
Previously, Dragami Games announced that multiple Lollipop Chainsaw projects were in progress, but specifics were initially unclear. More recently, Dragami has partnered with Nada Holdings, a Taiwanese investor known for working with acclaimed game developers like DeNA and Sega. This partnership has led some to speculate a new game is on the horizon, but given that Nada Holdings mainly backs anime and manga studios, it seems likely that there might be a shift in medium for this popular IP. Additional details have since emerged about these upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw projects, which will surely excite fans of the franchise.
On the official website of Nada Holdings, it has been announced that a fresh installment of the popular game titled “Lollipop Chainsaw” is being developed, with production already in progress. Moreover, an anime adaption has also been greenlit, although no information about the studio involved has been disclosed yet. The announcement states that the development team for the new “Lollipop Chainsaw” game includes key personnel who worked on the initial release, and they are focusing on incorporating fan feedback into its creation. After its launch in September 2024, the game “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP” recorded strong sales figures, with approximately 200,000 copies sold during its first four months. With the success of

The famed creator of Lollipop Chainsaw, Suda51, recently voiced his disapproval towards the gaming industry’s heavy dependence on Metacritic ratings. In his opinion, developers who overemphasize reviews often conform to a specific formula in an attempt to achieve success, making it harder for distinctive games to thrive. Instead of pursuing such scores, Suda prefers to develop games that he can be proud of and which players find enjoyable.
In April, an update for the game “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP” was released, introducing the much-desired Nightmare Mode to provide players with a tougher gaming experience. A prior update had already introduced a photo mode and additional costumes for the main character, Juliet Starling, who’s job is slaying zombies in a fantastically styled California high school setting.
