After 7 Years, The Walking Dead Actor Isn’t a Fan of Those Rick and Daryl Reunion Rumors – And Here’s Why

For approximately seven years now, Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes have been apart since their separation in season 9 of “The Walking Dead.” Although Daryl has tirelessly sought out Rick’s whereabouts after destroying the bridge, they haven’t managed to reunite. Speculation runs rampant that Rick might reappear in the final season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” and Norman Reedus shares his thoughts on this intriguing rumor with fans.

Despite The Walking Dead wrapping up production on November 20, 2022, its gritty storyline and zombie-filled universe persist through numerous spinoffs such as Fear the Walking Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. These shows have given fans a chance to delve deeper into the lives of beloved characters who have now earned their own series. While some spinoffs have been more successful than others, Rick and Michonne’s The Ones Who Live has received particularly high praise. Fans are eager for the return of fan favorites like Daryl and Rick, hoping to see a reunion that rekindles their unique bond.

Norman Reedus Weighs in on the Rick and Daryl’s Reunion Rumors

As a devoted admirer, I was thrilled when AMC revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” would be concluding its journey with its fourth season. With the possibility of Rick and Daryl’s reunion potentially being their last, Norman Reedus seems to share my sentiment but isn’t too fond of the persistent reunion speculation. In a chat with IGN, he admitted that he is “very mindful” of the buzz surrounding fan theories about a final encounter between Rick and Daryl. He hinted that sometimes, it might be more exciting for the storyline to go against what fans anticipate, keeping us all on our toes!

In simpler terms, Reedus expressed that he doesn’t like giving the audience what they expect in the show because then, the ending is predictable. Instead, he feels it’s more effective to tell the story as intended. He added that people can have different opinions about it, but you don’t want everything to be dictated by social media. Despite Reedus not being fond of speculation and keeping secrets, Andrew Lincoln appears optimistic about revisiting the Walking Dead universe.

Actor Andrew Lincoln, famous for his role as Rick Grimes, expressed in an earlier conversation with Entertainment Weekly that he might revisit the post-apocalyptic setting if the narrative seemed fitting, similar to how it was with Michonne in “The Ones Who Live.” Lincoln stated, “I’d never rule anything out.” He continued, “There are other significant characters within this universe who are still roaming and alive that I believe it could be thrilling to have them share the same space and observe how long they can endure together. However, it’s a tricky situation. It would need to be like [The Ones Who Live], an exceptionally captivating story.

At the beginning of this year, producer Scott Gimple of “The Walking Dead” expressed his ambition to expand the post-apocalyptic series to various parts of the world. He mentioned his interest in setting it in Tokyo, Africa, and Iceland, among other places. Gimple stated that there are compelling stories everywhere, and he’s eager to explore how characters from different regions are faring. This suggests a high likelihood of Rick reappearing, but whether we’ll see Rick and Daryl together remains uncertain for now.
