Overwatch 2 Reveals Nerf Skins

Overwatch 2 recently unveiled an exciting crossover with Nerf, offering a Legendary skin for Cassidy, as well as six weapon skins reminiscent of real-world toys. Additionally, there’s a new, amusing game mode to enjoy. This marks the second collaboration for Overwatch 2 during Season 17, which kicks off on August 5 and concludes on August 18.

During the Season 17 trailer and subsequent updates, an item resembling a Nerf Vortex football and darts popped up in Overwatch 2 maps, hinting at a potential collaboration with the toy line. Overwatch 2 officially acknowledged this by scheduling a Nerf partnership preview for August 4th.

Now, the big reveal is out for the nostalgic crossover event of Overwatch 2. Leading the collaboration is Overwatch 2’s rogue character Cassidy, who now sports a Legendary Nerf skin that equips him with a Nerf Maverick instead of his Peacekeeper and replaces his Flashbangs with Vortex Footballs. Additionally, Tracer, Genji, Mei, Hanzo, Baptiste, and Soldier: 76 join the fun by receiving weapon skins inspired by real-life Nerf toys.

The collaboration between Nerf and Overwatch 2 takes place from August 5 to August 18. During this period, enthusiasts can engage in the new game mode called “Nerf or Nothing,” which is a free-for-all deathmatch. In this exciting competition, eight participants aim to reach 20 eliminations first, battling it out on famous maps such as Blizzard World, Chateau, Paris, and King’s Row. At the start of each round, players will be given a random hero (excluding support-focused characters from Overwatch 2 like Mercy and Lifeweaver). After securing a kill or dying three times, players can switch to a different hero. The cooldown period is reduced by 80%, and the ultimate charge is retained even after death and partially across heroes. This setup guarantees an action-packed experience throughout the game.

Participants have an opportunity to acquire various in-game goodies by accomplishing event tasks during the Nerf collaboration period. Items like a Nerf spray, player icon, foam dart weapon charm, and Tracer’s Gelfire Pro weapon skin can be obtained without cost, along with 40,000 Battle Pass XP. However, keep in mind that these tasks are exclusive to the Nerf or Nothing game mode.

The partnership with Nerf ends just a week before Season 18 starts on August 26. But, during this time period, another thrilling event is happening: Overwatch 2 is hosting the Wuyang trial weekend from August 14 to August 18. This gives fans an opportunity to test out the new support hero prior to his release. With the aquatic hero’s grand entrance into Overwatch 2 approaching, players can look forward to learning about Wuyang’s abilities, background, and in-game appearance within a week or so.
