This arc contains some spoilers for the One Piece series.
One Piece” has been continuously published as a manga for more than two decades, and based on its current trajectory, it could continue for another 10 years or so.
Over the course of this exciting journey, I’ve found that One Piece has dished out a variety of arcs, some longer than others. While these arcs have been fantastic, I believe that the mastermind behind One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, could’ve trimmed them down a bit for an even more engaging read.
Egghead Island Arc
- Total Chapters: 68 Chapters
- Total Episodes: To Be Determined
Speaking of extended “One Piece” storylines, a notable one that’s still unfolding in the anime is the Egghead Island arc. This Egghead Island arc marked the beginning of the Final Saga for “One Piece.
Altogether, the Egghead Island saga spanned 68 chapters in the manga. On the whole, it was quite engaging, but there were moments that seemed to drag, particularly at the beginning. Additionally, Vegapunk’s discourse was extended across several chapters, which could have been made more concise.
As a child, I dreamt about creating a manga featuring an exhilarating final stage. I pondered if I was capable enough to bring it to life. Now, with just a smidgen of the Wano arc remaining and preparations wrapping up, it’s been 25 years since I started this journey (quite a laugh!). Rest assured, you can now embark on this story from here. From now on, get ready for… ONE PIECE!! I will be unraveling the enigmas of this world one by one. It promises to be an incredibly intriguing adventure! So buckle up and hang in there with me a little longer! — Eiichiro Oda, Author of One Piece, 2022
Punk Hazard Arc
- Total Chapters: 46 Chapters
- Total Episodes: 46 Episodes
The Punk Hazard arc in One Piece isn’t typically among the beloved storylines due to its extended duration and slow pacing, despite consisting of only 46 chapters. This was particularly noticeable after the timeskip in the series, leaving a lasting impression on many fans.
The island of Punk Hazard might’ve benefited from being more concise. For instance, the characters of Yeti Cool Brothers seemed like an unexpected addition and didn’t contribute significantly to the narrative.
Wano Arc
- Total Chapters: 149 Chapters
- Total Episodes: 191 Episodes
The Wano Country storyline in One Piece has rapidly gained immense popularity, and rightfully so. The epic clash with Kaido at Onigashima was nothing short of legendary, culminating in Luffy unleashing his strongest form to date – Gear 5.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but marvel at the current arc we’re in, which happens to be the longest One Piece arc yet, spanning a whopping 149 chapters! Now, don’t get me wrong, Wano could’ve very well been shorter, and there were parts in the Second Act that could have been trimmed down. Yet, despite these potential reductions, this arc continues to leave me utterly amazed.
Whole Cake Island Arc
- Total Chapters: 78 chapters
- Total Episodes: 95 episodes
As a die-hard One Piece fanatic, let me tell you, Whole Cake Island stands tall as one of the epic arcs that’s left an indelible mark in the series! Spanning across 78 captivating manga chapters, this arc has been the talk of the town among fellow enthusiasts. However, some sections, particularly the prolonged chase by Big Mom and her pirate crew after the Tea Party, have been a hot topic for discussion, as they seem to stretch out a bit longer than anticipated.
In spite of everything, this storyline continues to be regarded as one of the finest post-timeskip arcs by many viewers. The battle between Katakuri and Luffy is often considered one of the best, and it’s not hard to see why. Moreover, this arc played a significant role in Sanji’s character development, which has been highly appreciated by fans.
Dressrosa Arc
- Total Chapters: 102 chapters
- Total Episodes: 118 episodes
For quite some stretch, Dressrosa held the record as the longest arc in One Piece, spanning a whopping 102 chapters. It was the groundbreaking arc that surpassed the 100-chapter milestone for the first time within the series. However, its title of the longest arc was eventually dethroned by the Wano arc.
The Dressrosa saga often had intense moments, yet at times it seemed prolonged. Following it week by week wasn’t a breeze, particularly due to the Corrida Colosseum events and the chase after Doflamingo adding complexity.
* One Piece Chapter 1156 will be released this coming Sunday for global readers, while it will be available in Japan at 12AM JST on Monday. To clarify, the official release date is August 3, 2025. If you’re a fan of the series, you can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
