According to Mert Mumtaz, co-founder and CEO of Helius, a Solana infrastructure application, this innovation may lead to “unprecedented 10,000x scale enhancements” for the Solana L1 design.

According to Mumtaz’s calculations, ZK Compression offers a cost savings of approximately 5,200 times for each transaction when considering efficiency.

In simpler terms, activating the compression mechanism for Solana’s blockchain state technically reduces its size. Since the state is the most resource-intensive component of the Solana (SOL) blockchain, this reduction leads to significant savings on hardware costs and enhances the overall performance of the blockchain.

Previously, Anatoly Yakovenko, the founder of Solana (SOL), described the upgrade as “the most equitable phenomenon I have witnessed.” In his perspective, ZK Compression holds the potential to “fundamentally transform the social structure.”
