Starting from August 21st (today), Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can commence playing “Herdling” as part of their subscription. This is the eleventh new game that’s been added to the service this month in August 2025, and it’s also the hundred and sixteenth new title released on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate since the start of the year.
The newest game, titled “Herdling,” comes from Okomotive, a Swiss studio established in 2017, who have previously released the post-apocalyptic vehicle adventures “FAR: Lone Sails” and “FAR: Changing Tides.” In this game, players are responsible for leading a group of magical creatures known as Calicorns on an expedition through the mountains. Often described as a “silent story of trust,” Herdling features stunning post-apocalyptic landscapes and environmental puzzles that are sure to captivate fans of calming end-of-the-world games centered around exploration.
Herdling Now Available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
One year after its initial unveiling, Okomotive’s newest game hit the shelves on August 21 for both PC and consoles. As previously mentioned, _Herdling_ simultaneously launched as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, making it accessible to subscribers of PC Game Pass and XGP Ultimate. Those with the premium subscription tier can even stream the freshly debuted indie game via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
When Will Herdling Reach Xbox Game Pass Standard?
The game named “Herdling,” being a brand-new release, isn’t accessible yet on Xbox Game Pass Standard as of now. However, given Microsoft’s past patterns, this distinctive adventure might join the Standard library’s collection anywhere between February and August 2026. Notably, it’s the second game from Okomotive to appear on the service, following “FAR: Changing Tides,” which was added in March 2022 but departed Xbox Game Pass at the end of February 2023. If trends continue, we can expect “Herdling” to debut on XGP Standard early in 2026 and eventually leave the platform around its first anniversary.
Two additional games are set to join Xbox Game Pass before the end of August 2025. The first title is “Gears of War: Reloaded,” a remastered version of the famous 2006 shooter, due on August 26. Next up, scheduled for August 28, is “Dragon Age: The Veilguard” from BioWare.

By August 31st, five games will no longer be available on Xbox Game Pass. These include “Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay,” “Borderlands 3,” and “Sea of Stars.” Additionally, “Ben 10: Power Trip” and “This War of Mine: Final Cut” will also be removed from the service on that date. The first wave of games for September is expected to be announced in the afternoon hours (Eastern Time) on September 2nd.
