Upcoming Anime With Ridiculous Animation

The realm of Anime is always bustling with activity. Each day, month, and year presents a multitude of shows and films vying to make their mark not just on the industry but globally. Approximately 40 anime are produced every season by numerous studios, ranging from renowned ones like Madhouse to emerging companies eager to make their debut. The path to success for an anime can be influenced by various factors, such as its storyline, characters, creativity, or adaptation from the source material; yet, exceptional animation (and art) is generally considered the most crucial element.

In essence, anime serves as a visually engaging art form, where an appealing visual style can propel an average show into greatness. Shows like “Demon Slayer” and “Solo Leveling” demonstrate the power of exceptional animation to generate buzz, though it may not be sufficient on its own to maintain long-term success. At present, over 100 anime productions are slated for release, and let’s explore some series and films that promise spectacular animation.

In this scenario, the term “ridiculous” is used more as a generic, favorable descriptor rather than implying something absurd or laughable. We’ll steer clear from referencing sequels such as “Bleach” and “Solo Leveling”, as they’re already widely recognized by most readers. Additionally, we’ve excluded “Fate/strange fake” from the discussion because it has already been introduced.

Sekiro: No Defeat

FromSoftware’s Masterpiece Is Receiving A Gorgeous Hand-Drawn Anime

Following several weeks of speculation and whispers, the “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” anime was officially verified at Gamescom 2025. Anime derived from video games are quite common, often based on JRPGs or gacha games. However, due to its foundation in a Soulslike game with realistic visuals that depart from traditional anime aesthetics, “Sekiro: Untested Path” is expected to explore uncharted territory, particularly since it appears to be a faithful adaptation rather than a story set within the same universe as the original game.

The animated series titled “Sekiro: No Defeat” appears poised to deliver stunning animation reminiscent of traditional hand-drawn artistry from the past. According to its official page, this production will exclusively employ hand-drawn techniques. The trailer offers a glimpse into its dynamic fight scenes, breathtaking landscapes, and vividly graphic action sequences that leap off the screen. Qzil.la, a relatively new studio founded in 2021, is yet to debut a traditional show, but given the involvement of several notable figures, it seems this project may be well-managed.

Angel’s Egg (4K Restoration)

The Perfect Opportunity To Watch Mamoru Oshii’s Surreal Anime Classic

To be frank, I had reservations about adding “Angel’s Egg” to the list, given its age. Released in 1985, it wasn’t until Mamoru Oshii’s later works, particularly “Ghost in the Shell“, that this anime gained some recognition. Although not entirely obscure, “Angel’s Egg” is more akin to a cult classic that demands a particular palate, largely due to its enigmatic storyline and ethereal ambiance.

40 years on, I can’t wait to catch the 4K restoration of my cherished classic, “Angel’s Egg,” in November 2025! This timeless masterpiece remains unparalleled, with its surreal beauty that only the visionary mind of director Oshii could conjure. The visuals alone are a testament to his genius, merging breathtaking artistry with meticulous direction. Time has done nothing to diminish its uniqueness; it’s still an unrepeatable experience unlike any other anime out there!

Sanda

Science Saru’s Santa-Themed Battle Shonen Anime (Coming In October 2025)

The Fall 2025 season is quickly approaching, and it’s packed with some thrilling titles! Anime like “One-Punch Man,” “Spy x Family,” “My Hero Academia,” and the classic “Ranma ½” are expected to take center stage in discussions. These series promise impressive animation (including “OPM”), but they might not bring many unexpected twists, and no, they won’t feature a super-powered Santa character.

Let’s delve into “Sanda,” an animated series produced by Science Saru, based on a manga authored by the creator of “Beastars.” This shonen series is marked by its excessive zany elements, intertwining extravagant fights with storylines bordering on the absurd. Interestingly enough, it’s not a comedy but rather an action-packed spectacle that places a high premium on captivating and peculiar visuals. The anime adaptation needs to capture the series’ eccentricity, and based on the trailer, it seems it will. Not only does “Sanda” promise top-notch animation, but it also appears ready to experiment with vibrant colors, oscillating between black and white and intense reds. Although the narrative may not be particularly remarkable, its visuals could make it one of the standout animations in 2025.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Studio Trigger Always Delivers In The Animation Department

While there’s currently limited information available about the potential sequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, its sudden announcement took many by surprise given that the first season seemed to conclude David’s story, implying that the expansion of CD Projekt Red’s game by Trigger was essentially wrapped up. Nevertheless, it has been confirmed that season 2 will consist of another 10 episodes and may introduce a fresh cast of characters. Hypothetically, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners could potentially evolve into an anthology-style anime series, offering various tales set within Night City.

To date, Netflix has shared a teaser trailer for the upcoming season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, offering brief glimpses of some new characters. Regarding animation quality, there’s been limited footage released thus far; however, it appears that season 2 will maintain the top-tier animation standard set by its predecessor. There’s every indication that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be nothing short of extraordinary.

Scarlet

Mamoru Hosoda’s Newest Anime Movie That Blends 2D And CG Animation

Mamoru Hosoda, an acclaimed anime director currently active in the field, consistently delivers films that are either excellent or outstanding. Given his impressive body of work, every new venture he undertakes is met with considerable (warranted) anticipation. The upcoming movie, titled “Scarlet,” slated for release at the end of 2025, is no exception. Named after a princess who finds herself imprisoned in the Realm of the Departed, Scarlet embarks on a mission to vanquish her greatest foe, or face the prospect of disappearing altogether.

The narrative appears appealing, but what might stir the most controversy in “Scarlet” could be its animation style. Much like the 2021 release, “Belle,” this upcoming anime blends 2D and computer-generated (CG) imagery, with the CG elements seemingly taking precedence over the traditional 2D. Although advancements in computer animation have been noticeable in the industry lately, most successes have been in TV shows, and feature-length anime movies still seem to lag behind due to heavy reliance on CG animation. Specifically, “Belle” faced considerable challenges with its CGI.

It appears that “Scarlet” could potentially be one of the top CG anime productions ever made. This assumption is based on the teaser and trailer alone, but the animation seems significantly superior to that of “Belle” or many older films, featuring more expressive characters and breathtaking backgrounds. Moreover, the setting in the land of the dead may enhance the CG effects, making them appear less out of place and otherworldly.
