The Most Mysterious Pirate Crews in One Piece

This list contains spoilers

Summary

  • Bellamy Pirates remain mysterious due to lack of backstory and connection to Bellamy.
  • Red Hair Pirates’ abilities and relationships are kept secret, leaving fans eager for more.
  • Fire Tank Pirates’ snazzy appearance and Capone’s crew are shrouded in mystery with minimal screentime.

It’s common knowledge about the Straw Hat pirate crew from One Piece, but not all crews featured in the story have received as much attention as this primary group. In truth, there are numerous other crews, some still active and others disbanded, that remain enveloped in mystery. This has sparked a multitude of speculations among fans about their identities, powers, pasts, and motivations for becoming pirates.

This article will delve into the less-known and more enigmatic crews from Eiichiro Oda’s famous series, One Piece, which have so far been kept under wraps, hinting at potential future revelations or simply due to insufficient exploration in the storyline. These secretive crews are a mystery that fans are eager to unravel.

7. The Bellamy Pirates

These Violent Pirates Didn’t Seem To Trust One Another All That Much

  • First Appearance: Episode 146

Initially, when Bellamy and his team arrived in Jaya, it appeared they would significantly impact the narrative due to their dramatic entrance. However, things unfolded differently as we never witnessed the crew again after Bellamy was knocked out by Luffy with just one punch. Later on, Bellamy himself reappeared in Dressrosa, aiming to defeat Luffy once more, but he met with failure for a second consecutive time.

From my perspective as an avid follower, there remains a great deal of mystery surrounding Bellamy’s crewmates, with only a handful of names surfacing in the narrative. However, the specific relationships these individuals had with Bellamy and their individual beliefs are rather vague and not well-defined. Moreover, it was hinted that some of Bellamy’s crew met their demise following their journey beyond the Sky Islands. Given his subsequent allegiance to Doflamingo, it appears unlikely we’ll ever get another glimpse of these lost souls again.

6. The Red Hair Pirates

Despite Being Shown Plenty Of Times, The Red Hair Pirates Still Have Many Secrets To Spill

  • First Appearance: Episode 1

Throughout the series, Oda skillfully depicts the Red Pirates in action, while avoiding extensive character revelations about each individual member. Although Shanks has been in the limelight recently, characters such as Ben Beckman, Lucky Roo, and Yasopp remain relatively unexplored when it comes to their abilities. Given their assumed immense power, spectators are eagerly waiting for a time when we can witness these strong personalities in action within the storyline.

Although some details about these notorious pirates, the Red Hair crew, have been disclosed, there remains enough intrigue for fans as they eagerly await more insights. For instance, it’s common knowledge that Yassop is Usopp’s father and a skilled sniper, but Oda has yet to delve deeper into their personal relationship. Similarly, the dynamics among the Red Hair pirates as a whole are still largely unexplored.

5. The Fire Tank Pirates

A Group Of Snazzy Mobsters Who Have Had Barely Any Screentime

  • First Appearance: Episode 392

Although the Fire Tank Pirates, led by Capone, play significant roles during the Whole Cake Island arc and even temporarily join forces with the Straw Hats, their backgrounds remain largely undisclosed. True to Capone’s style, numerous members of his crew can be seen sporting fashionable business suits and top hats, adorned with enough firearms to equip an entire military force.

In the world of One Piece, I’ve come across two intriguing characters who have captivated fans yet remain shrouded in mystery. One is Vito, a peculiar-looking crew member with an unusually long tongue that has been featured extensively. However, beyond a few distinctive features, there isn’t much known about him.

Similarly, Gotti, the pirate sporting what appears to be a gun for an arm, hasn’t had much limelight so far. Despite their frequent appearances, Eiichiro Oda, the mastermind behind One Piece, chose not to delve too deeply into their backgrounds during Whole Cake Island. Yet, it’s safe to say that these enigmatic characters could reappear in future episodes, ready to unveil more of their intriguing stories.

4. The Fake Straw Hats

Who Exactly Are These Straw Hat Cosplayers? And Why Do They Keep Appearing?

  • First Appearance: Episode 517

As I gaze upon my beloved Straw Hat Pirates reunited after our separation, I can’t help but notice an unfamiliar group causing a stir, pretending to be us! Donning similar attire and sporting some of our distinctive marks, it’s evident that these rascals are merely trying to ride on our fame.

At first glance, I thought they were just pulling a prank, but upon closer observation, I realized that they’ve been making appearances throughout the tale more frequently than I would’ve anticipated. It seems they’re determined to make their mark and continue their impersonation shenanigans, adding an unexpected twist to our adventures!

In truth, they have recently shown up in the manga wearing disguises as the Kid Pirates. However, their captain boasted that he possesses enough strength to defeat Joy Boy, the legendary figure, himself. It seems these characters serve as a source of amusement for Oda, yet the lack of information about their identities and the continuous success of their schemes leaves us questioning: who are they really beneath those costumes?

3. The On Air Pirates

Apoo’s Loyal Comrades Have Only Been Shown A Single Time

  • First Appearance: Episode 392

In the realm of piracy, Apoo, belonging to what’s often referred to as the least illustrious generation, logically would need a devoted team of allies to ascend to such a notable status. However, unlike most Supernova pirates, Apoo’s crew, known as On Air Pirates, are seldom depicted in the narrative. Surprisingly, apart from Apoo himself, these pirates don’t officially have names, despite repeated instances suggesting their existence.

Due to Apoo joining forces with Kaido after the timeskip, it resulted in his original crew getting overshadowed within the massive Beast Pirates group. Consequently, it’s not hard to see why Oda might choose to put these characters on the back burner for a while. However, it’s regrettable that with their unique designs, there is ample opportunity to develop these characters further, provided Apoo reappears as a significant player in the story once more.

2. The Fallen Monk Pirates

Urouge’s Crew Members Must Be Absurdly Powerful To Keep Up With Their Captain

  • First Appearance: Episode 392

In the world of One Piece, it’s often joked that Oda has somehow overlooked Urouge, given his absence from the narrative for hundreds of chapters and episodes. Unlike other Supernova characters who have been integral to the main storyline, Urouge and his crew have been conspicuously absent, leaving their individual identities shrouded in mystery.

It’s been unveiled that the Fallen Monk Pirates continue to exert considerable influence globally, as they infiltrated Whole Cake Island before the Straw Hats could arrive. Moreover, Urouge demonstrated remarkable combat abilities at Sabaody, leading one to suspect that his entire crew possesses comparable strength, given that a mere average weakling wouldn’t make the cut for joining their captain’s ship.

1. The Gecko Pirates

Moria’s Entire Crew Was Slaughtered By The Bloodthirsty Kaido

  • First Appearance: Episode 971

Initially, Captain Gecko Moria appears sluggish and disengaged when Luffy and his team encounter him for the first time, but there’s a backstory behind his lethargic demeanor and detachment from the world. Eons past, Moria, leading his crew called the Gecko Pirates, dared to confront the formidable beast known as Kaido in battle. While glimpses of their fight have been revealed, it’s evident that Moria’s crew was eager to engage in a brutal skirmish with such a powerful adversary. To suggest that their battle didn’t go awry would be an understatement.

The entire team under Moria’s command was wiped out, leaving only the captain alone and solitary. This isolation seems to have driven him mad, causing him to attempt resurrecting dead crew members as replacements for his lost comrades. However, little is known about these unidentified individuals or what prompted them to join Moria in the first place. Yet, one fact remains undeniable: anyone daring enough to confront Kaido with a grin on their face surely earns valor, as not every pirate would have the courage for such an act.
