Devil Fruits That Can Create Armies In One Piece

Summary

  • Devil Fruits can create armies of diverse beings with unique abilities.
  • Users like Perona, Gecko Moria, Sugar, and Big Mom can control different armies through their Devil Fruit powers.
  • Each Devil Fruit army has trade-offs, such as limitations on controlling subordinates or weaknesses that can be exploited.

Devil Fruits grant users extraordinary skills but at the cost of their swimming ability. Among the less common attributes is the power to form an army. This capability often arises as a secondary effect of other abilities, where these particular powers enable manipulation or creation of multiple beings, either through control or fabrication, due to the unique properties of the Devil Fruit they possess.

At times, users may encounter restrictions or find means to reverse their abilities, yet it’s important to note that each user possesses the capacity to command several underlings simultaneously due to their Devil Fruit powers.

Horo Horo no Mi

An Army of Hollows

  • Current User: Perona

The Horo Horo Fruit possesses the capability to generate ethereal, usually intangible entities resembling translucent white ghosts, characterized by dark eyes, pink lips, and tongues. Most of these beings are not primarily combat-focused. Negative Hollows can infiltrate individuals, causing severe self-doubt and occasionally leading to suicidal thoughts. There also exist larger, tangible Toku Hollows that can attack opponents with a destructive shockwave. Hollows can be dispersed to carry information back to their user and have the unique ability to ‘hollow’ themselves out, transforming into spectral beings capable of flight, intangibility, and shape-shifting size.

While having this power comes with advantages, there are also drawbacks to consider. For instance, Hollows cannot influence pessimistic individuals, as Perona learned when trying to turn Usopp into a Hollow. Furthermore, linking one’s consciousness to a Hollow weakens the user’s capacity to defend their physical self. An even more concerning issue is that transforming into a spirit prohibits them from attacking and renders their physical body vulnerable during this transformation.

Kage Kage no Mi

An Army of Zombies

  • Current User: Gecko Moria

The Kage Kage no Mi is centered around the manipulation of shadows. Users possess an exceptional ability to command and mold their personal shadows, and even sever others from their own shadows. Gecko Moria utilizes this power, along with a consistent source of bodies, to fabricate zombies. These zombies retain peculiar traits derived from the shadows of their original owners, but often shed these idiosyncrasies, transforming instead into loyal servants under the control of their masters.

As an avid fan, let me share some intriguing insights about these shadows! First off, did you know that zombies can actually return these shadows to their rightful owners? That’s right, by feeding them salt or seawater, though the amount required depends on the size of the zombie. Interestingly, Jinbe, a master at water manipulation and a fish-man, could swiftly cleanse numerous zombies in no time!

Shadows can also return if you destroy the zombie’s corpse. However, they can also be used against the owner, like when Luffy’s power was boosted with a hundred shadows. That’s not all, the most vexing aspect is that these zombies paradoxically depend on the life of the shadow holder! Yes, you heard it right. Shadow-less beings find it much easier to perish, as they vaporize under sunlight without a shadow. So, users of this Devil Fruit must ensure the original owners stay alive, but also keep their autonomy in check to prevent them from dying or trying to reclaim their shadows. It’s quite a balancing act!

Hobi Hobi no Mi

An Army of Toys

  • Current User: Sugar

Using a more conversational and simplified style:

The Hobi Hobi no Mi grants its wielder the power to transform people or animals into toy-like automatons. These toys can be controlled via contracts and will follow their creator’s commands. The user has the ability to determine the form that the transformed victims take, and they can even combine multiple victims into a single toy, like a headcracker doll.

The transformed individuals will temporarily lose their Devil Fruit abilities, any possessions they might hold, and the memories associated with them that others have. This situation creates opportunities for manipulation within certain communities, while those unaffected remain oblivious to the truth. A peculiar consequence of this transformation is that the affected individuals appear to be trapped in a timeless state, allowing them to exit the change at the same age they were when they initially transformed, as exemplified by Kyros. This seems to be an expansion of the Devil Fruit’s inherent property of granting eternal youth to its users.

The main disadvantage of the Hobi Hobi no Mi is that any changes made by its user are reversed immediately if they lose consciousness. Usopp used Sugar’s fear of his grimace to knock her out twice, thereby disbanding her army each time. Toys must also be granted contracts or else they can disregard their owner just as easily as anyone. While objects like Devil Fruits and weapons cannot be transferred, a victim’s recollection of their fighting skills can pose problems if there is no contract in place, as demonstrated by Kyros.

Soru Soru no Mi

An Army of Homies

  • Current User: Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin

The Soru Soru no Mi enables its wielder to control life durations using “souls” as the means. Extracted souls can be inserted into inanimate objects, transforming them into conscious entities called “Homies.” A significant number of these entities populate both Totto Land and the military forces of the Big Mom Pirates. Currently, Charlotte Linlin, the user, establishes a tax system within her territories. This tax isn’t monetary but rather a part of each individual’s lifespan, which is regularly collected. This system secures a continuous source for the creation of Homies.

Big Mom’s foot soldiers, as well as other subordinates, are called Homies, but she has not only used this power to enchant her ship, the Queen Mama Chanter, and bestow parts of her soul to her sword, fire, and thunderclouds, but also to enchant herself. Interestingly, a stolen Vivre Card portion can make her minions retreat from enemies. Moreover, if someone is fearless in her presence, she cannot steal their soul. Big Mom’s commands must be verbally expressed, so if her mouth is somehow silenced, she won’t be able to issue them. Homies are living entities that can be influenced against their user with sufficient motivation and can be eliminated through extreme fear or lethal attacks.

Bisu Bisu no Mi

An Army of Biscuits

  • Current User: Charlotte Cracker

As a die-hard fanatic of culinary magic, I’m absolutely smitten by the Bisu Bisu no Mi! With a simple clap, I can conjure up delectable biscuits that serve as versatile clay. They might seem mere treats on the outside, but they have an intriguing texture-sturdy yet hollow-which makes them perfect for hiding within. I’ve used this ability so frequently that people often mistake my homemade biscuit figures for my actual likeness, given how often I use them to throw off pursuers, aka Charlotte Cracker here!

The main problem with these cookies lies in their fragility. Although they seem quite sturdy in their solid state, they become soggy with little effort when exposed to liquid. This vulnerability was utilized during a lengthy battle between Cracker and Nami and Luffy, where Cracker wet the cookies using his clima-tact, while Luffy consumed the less soggy ones instead.

Kibi Kibi no Mi

An Army of Animals

  • Current User: Kurozumi Tama

Observing closely, I’ve come across a unique Devil Fruit power called the Kibi Kibi no Mi. This extraordinary ability empowers its user to fabricate kibi dango, traditional Japanese dumplings crafted from proso millet grains. Unlike ordinary dumplings, these aren’t meant for sustenance but hold a peculiar power. When an animal is ingests one and hears verbal commands from the creator, it becomes compelled to obey, effectively brainwashed into subservience. The animal retains its memories of its past, but now acts as a loyal subject under its new master’s control.

Interestingly, these manipulated dumplings can also influence successful SMILE users due to their part-animal nature. However, they are powerless against Zoan users.

Although Tama is responsible for making the dango, her allies such as Usopp and even the controlled animals can help distribute them, simplifying the process. However, creating too many dango can be tiring. The main drawback of the Kibi Kibi no Mi is that its effects wear off after a month, at which point the affected individual must choose whether to continue serving the user or not. Interestingly, Tama attempted to persuade Speed, a horse SMILE user she brainwashed and befriended, to stay with her forever, portraying herself as a mother. This gesture seems to have been well-received by Speed.

Gunyo Gunyo no Mi

An Army of Golems

  • Current User: Prince Grus

I’ve just observed SWORD’s Prince Grus wielding the Gunyo Gunyo no Mi, a relatively new Devil Fruit. The exact capabilities of this fruit are yet to be fully understood, but it’s been demonstrated that it can mold clay into objects of varying hardness and even create golems – sentient, resilient clay beings that reconstitute themselves after taking damage. Interestingly, Grus often seems to have a trio of these imposing golems by his side, their appearance seemingly synchronized with his movements.

At present, it’s uncertain if the Devil Fruit’s capabilities for Grus are fully realized, suggesting there might be more hidden abilities. It’s possible Grus can make additional golems, but there could also be a point of fatigue associated with shaping and creating clay. Interestingly, the process doesn’t seem to tire out Grus noticeably.
