As a die-hard fan, I often ponder over what it might be like if my beloved characters stepped into the spotlight with a standalone series all their own. It could be their distinctive fighting moves, captivating character development, or even their eye-catching designs that make them so endearing and deserving of their fanbase’s adoration. The question then arises: what if we got to explore more of their story, delving deeper into their world, beyond the confines of shared universes?

In Naruto’s wake, it’s natural that the narrative shifted towards Boruto, being the Hokage’s son as he is. However, one can’t help but feel that other significant characters could make for engaging protagonists in their own stories. This piece aims to explore which Naruto characters might excel in leading roles and what their series could entail if they ever came to fruition.

7. Shikamaru Nara

His Serious And Stoic Demeanor Would Result In A Drastically Different Vibe And Aesthetic

Frequently, supporters of the anime series Naruto express their favorite side character as Shikamaru, and one main reason for this widespread preference lies in the stark contrast between him and the main protagonist. Unfortunately, Bee doesn’t receive as much attention in the narrative as some fans might prefer, given his entrance occurs later on. However, it’s unfortunate that this charismatic and jovial character with an awe-inspiring eight-blade fighting style doesn’t get more screen time to shine.

As an observer, I can see two distinct paths that a standalone series featuring Killer Bee as the protagonist might take. On one hand, it could lean towards comedy, highlighting Bee’s playful rivalry with the Raikage, and the deep brotherhood he shares with the Eight Tails. Yet, on the other hand, it could delve into a more serious narrative, exploring Bee’s formative years, the influence of inheriting the fearsome beast, and how his relationship with those around him was shaped during his younger days.

5. Hidan

Hidan Is A Unique Character Who Is Begging To Be Explored In Greater Depth

First Appearance: Shippuden Episode 71

The members of the Akatsuki group are distinct in their individual characteristics, yet Hidan distinguishes himself notably among his peers. When he debuts in the narrative, Hidan proudly proclaims his allegiance to Jashin, a largely unmentioned enigmatic deity, making him a fascinating character from the start. As part of this secret cult, Hidan possessed an array of unusual rituals and abilities that he could use against adversaries, and moreover, gained immortality. This intriguing cult, Jashinism, seems to warrant further exploration, so it would be fitting for a supplementary storyline to delve into Hidan’s origins.

Apart from revealing the reasons behind his dedication to Jashin initially, it’s also intriguing to discover how Hidan officially joined the Akatsuki. Given Hidan’s enigmatic nature and the numerous mysteries surrounding him, Naruto enthusiasts are particularly interested in learning more about this elusive member of the Akatsuki. In fact, there’s a strong case to be made for dedicating an entire series to Hidan and his deceitful escapades.

4. Rock Lee

Lee Would Be The Perfect Protagonist For An Underdog Story

First Appearance: Episode 22

In his journey at the Ninja Academy, Naruto faced numerous challenges, yet he managed to execute Jutsu techniques during battles. On the other hand, Rock Lee, limited to physical combat (taijutsu), might initially seem disadvantaged next to many other Genin. However, through dedication and hard work, Lee transformed into one of Konoha’s most formidable physical fighters, demonstrating that even those without Ninjutsu or Genjutsu skills can achieve greatness as a ninja.

Lee could be an ideal choice to portray the lead character in a heartwarming underdog tale. Watching brief glimpses of Lee’s relentless efforts to match everyone else’s strength has always been moving, and expanding this into a long-running series would deepen the emotional connection with the Bruce Lee-inspired ninja character. Furthermore, Lee’s ability to blend seriousness with humor makes him extremely likable, making him an excellent candidate for headlining his own series.

3. Madara Uchiha

Madara’s Long And Important Backstory Extremely Fascinating

First Appearance: Shippuden Episode 130

In the primary narrative for the first time, we witness Madara in physical form, and what unfolds is a breathtaking spectacle as he effortlessly dispatches an entire army of ninjas without so much as breaking a sweat. This moment, undeniably one of the most thrilling in the series, leaves us yearning for a spin-off that delves into Madara’s journey and reveals how he amassed such phenomenal power. Although his path to this incredible level is somewhat explored within Naruto, it’s evident that there are numerous untold tales about this legendary Uchiha waiting to captivate the audience further.

Initially renowned as a prominent Uchiha Clan member, Madara’s life took a dramatic turn when he found himself entangled in the treacherous power struggles that plagued Konoha. Over time and amid various hardships, Madara developed an intense fixation on a plan to mesmerize the globe, aiming to halt future conflicts permanently. Thus, this narrative could be effectively conveyed by delving into the transformation of Madara from a hero to a villain, examining how events impacting his clan shaped his mental state and worldview.

2. Jiraiya

The Tale Of Jiraiya The Gallant Needs To Be Made Into A Series

Anyone who has encountered Naruto, either through reading or watching, will never easily forget the character Jiraiya. Initially, Jiraiya’s mentorship of Naruto seemed unpromising, but over time he transformed into a cherished teacher, demonstrating that his wealth of experience far surpassed what he was initially willing to reveal. Originally, Jiraiya was part of the renowned trio known as the Legendary Sannin, although in the central narrative, it’s evident that his days of fighting alongside Tsunade and Orochimaru are long past.

In addition to this, Jiraiya is rather abruptly removed from the narrative, which makes him one of the few characters who don’t reappear in the closing chapter. This leaves his story feeling incomplete compared to many others. A series centered around Jiraiya would be an exciting prospect for long-term fans, as it could delve into not only his relationship with Naruto’s father but also his thrilling exploits as a member of the Sannin. Such a series could seamlessly tie in with his role in the main storyline.

A Complicated Character Whose Journey Is Well Worth Exploring

Itachi Uchiha stands out as one of the most skillfully crafted characters within the “Naruto” universe. Despite his initial appearance as merely a cold-blooded assassin, readers soon discover that this Konoha ninja is far more intricate than initially perceived. Delving deeper into Itachi’s story through a dedicated series would be an enticing prospect for fans of the franchise, offering insights into his early life marked by fear and violence, culminating in his tragic decision to eliminate his entire Uchiha clan to prevent another devastating war.

The series could serve as an intricate exploration of Itachi’s perspectives towards Konoha and the ninja world, delving into the psychological impact of his brutal deeds. This examination would also focus on the intricate relationship between Itachi and Sasuke, which undergoes significant development throughout the narrative. Even though Itachi was a significant character in Naruto, fans have been eagerly waiting for him to take center stage. Therefore, creating a series centered around Itachi would undeniably be a dream realization for many Naruto enthusiasts if it ever transpired.
