This article contains spoilers for Chapter 1158 of One Piece.
In the world of One Piece, appearances can be deceiving regarding history. This is due to the World Government, the ruling body, forbidding any exploration into the past. The reason behind this secrecy is that revealing the truth could fundamentally alter the status quo that has favored Imu and the Celestial Dragons for the last 800 years.
In the annals of One Piece, an influential event known as the God Valley Incident is shrouded in mystery due to the passage of time. Details surrounding this incident are still unclear, but it’s widely accepted that a significant Native Hunting Competition occurred on the island 38 years before the story begins, and all major world figures attended. Over the years, fans have been intrigued by the possible events that unfolded during the competition, and Chapter 1159 suggests that the truth will finally be revealed.
A Short Recap Of Chapter 1158 Proves That The Next Chapter May Show This Event
An Incredible Chapter

- Chapter 1158 lays the groundwork for the God Valley Incident.
In Chapter 1158 of the manga, one of the standout moments in the Elbaf saga unfolded. This chapter was exceptional because it unveiled significant secrets. Among these astonishing disclosures, the Gods’ Knights stumbling upon God Valley during a routine mission was particularly noteworthy. During his conversation with the Gorosei, Garling shared that this was their first-ever visit to this island.
It’s fascinating to note that whatever was discovered at this location caught Imu’s attention. This is particularly significant because Imu only pays attention to matters of great importance, considering their influential role in the World Government. As a result, some people are now wondering if perhaps an Ancient Weapon lies hidden within God Valley, or something equally as significant. This could be why Garling insisted that the next Native Hunting Competition take place there.
Chapter 1159 Finally Offers The Perfect Opportunity To Show This Hyped Event
The Greatest Event Lost To History

Story Arc | Reverie |
In the world of One Piece, there are hardly any events as widely anticipated and shrouded in enigma as the God Valley Incident. Over the years, key details about this event have been established. Essentially, it’s understood that the Celestial Dragons stole the treasure from Pirate Island, which led to the Rocks Pirates chasing them to God Valley. At the same time, both the Roger Pirates and a Marine unit headed by Garp were present there as well.
In essence, the flashback during the Elbaf arc disclosed a wealth of additional details. For instance, Shakky relinquished her position as Empress of Amazon Lily/Kuja Pirates and moved to Hachinosu, where she launched a bar that turned out to be incredibly popular among global pirates. The bar eventually became a fixed aspect of the island, with Shakky being revered as ‘the Crown Jewel of Hachinosu’. This suggests that it’s plausible the Celestial Dragons might have abducted her from there, subjecting her to slavery or using her as a prize in their competition.
The inhabitants of Hachinosu began to covet her like a treasure… an irreplaceable Crown Jewel!
Despite the ominous atmosphere, it aligns with the malicious nature of the Celestial Dragons. It might have been strategically set up to lure Rocks and his crew to God Valley, aiming to eliminate them all from existence. Notably, Roger’s fascination for Shakky in his younger days could have led him to venture to God Valley not just for vengeance against Rocks, but also to save her. This possible motivation might have also prompted Garp to travel to this island as well. In essence, the known facts about this event appear to make perfect sense.
In Chapter 1158, a significant disclosure unfolded regarding Rocks and Harald’s strained relationship. It turned out that Harald was instructed by the World Government to eliminate his friend for the purpose of integrating Elbaf as a member nation. Despite their evenly matched battle, neither emerged victorious from the fight. The chapter concluded with the revelation that the next encounter between these two took place on the day of the God Valley Incident.

This new development significantly alters the course of events, since it shows that Harald was simultaneously on God Valley. This could potentially be the pivotal moment in the series, surpassing even the Void Century. There are two plausible scenarios emerging from this:
1) Harald may have been an adversary to Rocks on God Valley as well.
2) Alternatively, Harald might have defied the World Government’s orders due to his allegiance to his friend, joining forces with Rocks Pirates in their fight against those aiming to obliterate them.
It appears that the scenario where Rocks, possibly joined by Garling, battled against Roger, Garp, and perhaps even took Elbaf’s side due to shared interests, offers a more plausible explanation for how Rocks was able to confront both Roger and Garp simultaneously. This hypothesis also sheds light on why Elbaf has yet to become a member nation. If true, this battle would not only be the most epic in the history of One Piece, but it could also answer numerous lingering questions about these characters and the enigmatic conclusion of the God Valley Incident.
One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
