With such a daunting challenge ahead, every member of this pirate crew must be primed and ready to face their toughest opponents so far. To achieve this, they need to perform at their utmost best. The swordsman among the Straw Hat Pirates, Roronoa Zoro, continues to demonstrate steady growth in strength, yet he hasn’t fully reached his potential just yet. Ambitious as ever, Zoro seeks to outmatch Dracule Mihawk; however, to accomplish this lofty goal, he must unlock his hidden talents and perfect each of his abilities to their maximum capacity.

Indeed, even with his current strength, it’s likely that Zoro will need to become even stronger, and this is particularly important when it comes to achieving complete command over his ultimate form, Asura. He exudes a mysterious, almost demonic energy that is noticeable within him. This was first acknowledged during the Enies Lobby arc of One Piece. It was then that Zoro displayed his demonic aura for the first time, causing even Kaku to feel a profound fear deep within him.

Over time, Zoro unleashed his form known as Asura during their battle and quickly defeated Kaku with a single powerful blow. However, it was evident that he didn’t have complete mastery over this form, using it sparingly in combat, such as against Kaku, and later on, only when there were no other options like in the fight against Pacifista where the situation seemed dire.

A little later, Zoro employed it against Kaido, yet even then, he couldn’t inflict a severe wound on the Yonko, indicating that Asura is indeed Zoro’s most powerful form. However, Oda has been saving it for sparing use up until now. To grow stronger, Zoro needs to master its control and be able to summon it whenever necessary, allowing him to effortlessly vanquish his foes.

Zoro Will Beat Mihawk With Asura

The fact that Zoro has mastered Asura is evidently significant, as it equips him with the means to outshine Dracule Mihawk, a rival he currently falls short of despite his command over all three types of Haki and his ability to infuse Conqueror’s Haki onto his swords. Even with these skills, Zoro is not yet on Mihawk’s level. However, when Zoro fully controls Asura, his blades will grow stronger as they turn black, and he will finally reach Mihawk’s caliber.

After perfecting his final transformation as Asura, it is only then that Zoro can hold his own against Mihawk. To achieve his goal of being recognized as the World’s Best Swordsman in One Piece, Zoro must first master Conqueror’s Haki, blackening his swords, and transform into Asura.
