In the world of Hollow Knight, an essential tool called the Simple Key was present. Its role was to unlock the numerous massive doors within Hallownest. This item makes a return in Team Cherry’s latest game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, maintaining its original function. However, locating these hefty gates in the game presents a new challenge altogether.
In my gaming experience with Hollow Knight: Silksong, I’ve come across a hidden heavy gate that isn’t clearly marked on the map. Players will need to thoroughly investigate every corner of the game world until they stumble upon it. The following guide reveals the location of this early-game gate, which can be unlocked using the right key and allows exploration of a previously inaccessible section within an area.
Where to Use the Simple Key in Silksong
Upon reaching Bone Bottom, you’ll encounter several NPCs. One of them offers a Simple Key for sale at 500 Rosaries. Don’t fret if your inventory is currently empty, as this currency is widely available and often dropped by enemies. You can easily obtain it through a farming method located near the Bench in The Marrow, which is close to Shakra, who sells maps. Once you procure the Simple Key, your goal shifts towards heading towards the Deep Docks. From The Marrow, begin moving towards the lower right corner. There, you’ll soon spot metal platforms and lava beneath you.
Watch out! Instead of causing one damage like spikes, the lava inflicts twice the mask damage, so it’s best to avoid stepping into it.
The Path to The Heavy Gate
Follow the path straight ahead, and eventually, you’ll encounter Shakra once more, offering a map for the Deep Docks. Once you’ve obtained this map and studied its layout, head towards the bottom-right corner of the current room. Here, you’ll spot a sign indicating a bench and pointing downwards. Press the switch there and then proceed downward. Interact with the bench, and on your right, you can find the Forge Daughter who stocks various helpful items, one of them being a tool that lessens the damage taken from magma.
After wrapping up here, make sure to pull the second lever situated just before the NPC. This action will grant you access to a room below, where you’ll encounter a few foes. Defeat them, then veer right, leap across to the other side, and voila! You’ll stumble upon your inaugural Heavy Gate. Enjoy the exploration!
You don’t need to hold on to that key right now, as there are plenty of other heavier gates out there, and you’ll come across many more simple keys in the future. So don’t worry about saving it for later.
