One Piece: Garp’s Biggest Power Feats In The Series

This list contains spoilers up to the Elbaph arc in One Piece

It’s widely recognized that Garp is among the most powerful characters in One Piece, yet, interestingly enough, readers haven’t witnessed this Marine demonstrating his full strength often within the story. This is because Garp was at his peak before Luffy embarked on his quest to become Pirate King, making him more likely to delegate tasks to other Marines in the main narrative. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t found himself in the middle of a ruckus every so often.

In the popular series, One Piece, Oda often incorporates flashbacks to highlight significant characters, and these have given fans a peek into Garp’s remarkable power during his prime years. Although there are only a handful of scenes in the story that emphasize Garp’s immense strength and abilities, witnessing the Hero of the Marines destroying an island with a single blow or engaging in intense battles against fearsome pirates remains an exciting experience. These moments underscore why Garp continues to be viewed as a potent threat.

Stopping Marco In His Tracks

With A Single Punch, Garp Prevented Marco From Getting Near Ace

  • Episode: 476

Beneath his playful exterior and peculiar style, Marco proves himself to be one of Whitebeard’s formidable pirates. A significant factor behind this strength lies in his unique Devil Fruit ability that transforms him into a majestic blue phoenix. During the Marineford War, when all hope seemed lost for Ace, Marco, in an effort to save his longtime comrade, utilized his Zoan Devil Fruit and sped toward him at his maximum speed. However, a turn of events unfolded upon the arrival of Garp on the scene.

Although initially reluctant, Garp chose to deliver a powerful punch aimed at Marco, sending him crashing to the ground and causing him to deactivate his transformation. What’s remarkable about this event is that Marco has shown himself to be no ordinary adversary, having fought both King and Queen solo during Wano. However, even Marco acknowledged that confronting Garp would only lead to catastrophe. Despite being formidable, he understood that challenging Garp was a recipe for disaster.

Fighting Roger On Multiple Occasions

It Became Somewhat Of A Hobby For The Marine And Future Pirate King To Duke It Out

  • Chapter: 1156

In the days when Captain Gol D. Roger sailed the seas with his motley pirate crew, there were no Marines powerful enough to capture them because of their immense strength. However, Garp was a notable exception; it was often said that he would fight Roger whenever they crossed paths. It wasn’t until the arc centered on Elbaf during Loki’s flashback that viewers finally had a chance to witness an image depicting these fights.

Just like predicted, these two rarely engage in formal duels when they meet; instead, they resort to rough physical fights, exchanging blows and kicks until one of them tires out. It’s worth mentioning that Gol D. Roger, as depicted in his flashbacks with Whitebeard, possesses extraordinary strength. Consequently, it’s quite impressive that Garp was willing to face him alone on multiple occasions, given that he is a Marine.

Using Galaxy Impact On Pirate Island

All Just To Save One Marine

  • Episode: 1114

obliterating nearly the entire island with a single attack, the Galaxy impact.

In a spectacular display of force, Garp, after jumping high and building up energy, punched the air, causing seismic vibrations to sweep across the entire island. This single blow sent countless thugs and pirates scattering in terror as they marveled at the Marine’s astonishing might. This moment remains one of the most awe-inspiring demonstrations of power within the realm of One Piece, serving as a clear reminder that even in his advanced years, Garp is someone to be respected and not trifled with.

Punching Sanjuan Wolf Into The Sea

Garp Sent The Largest Man In The Series Flying Through The Sky

  • Episode: 1114

Amongst Blackbeard’s band of intimidating pirates, Sanjuan Wolf stands out distinctively due to his immense size. Owing to the fact that he consumed the Huge Huge fruit, Sanjuan Wolf is recognized as one of the largest characters in the entire world of One Piece, even surpassing the stature of most giants. Consequently, it’s challenging for a single individual to inflict substantial harm upon him, unless that individual happens to be Garp.

Eager to clear the path for my rescue mission, I found myself growing frustrated with Sanjuan’s interference. In that moment, I felt a surge of determination and decided it was high time for the colossal pirate to meet the ocean! With all my might, I unleashed a monstrous punch aimed right at Wolf’s head. Just moments later, he was sent flying through the air as if propelled by an unseen force!

Given that Sanjuan Wolf towers over me like a mountain, this feat of strength left me utterly astounded. It truly makes one question just how much stronger I could have been in my prime, considering I’m still managing to best someone the size of a giant with a single strike. The thought is both humbling and exhilarating!

Taking On Aokiji

With Brute Strength And Willpower, Garp Resisted The Attacks Of A Former Admiral

  • Episode: 1115

On my thrilling quest to save Kobe from Blackbeard’s grasp, I encountered a familiar face – none other than Admiral Aokiji, an old student of mine in the Marines. At first glance, it seemed as though his icy abilities would render me immobile. Yet, drawing upon every ounce of strength and channeling my inner Haki, I managed not just to breach his defenses, but retaliate by hurling his ice blocks back at him!

For a long time, it’s been widely recognized that the Admirals are formidable opponents due to their battle expertise. Despite this, Garp eagerly engaged in combat with his transformed friend and foe, seemingly unfazed by potential risks to his life. Although external factors may have prevented him from winning this particular fight, his prolonged sparring with a former Admiral highlights that he still possesses the skills to hold his own, even as he approaches retirement age. This suggests that he remains capable of delivering a powerful punch.

Defeating Rocks D. Xebec

Garp’s Actions At God Valley Made Him The Hero Of The Marines

  • Episode: 958 (First Mentioned)

In the recollections of Elbaph’s flashbacks, I’ve witnessed firsthand the unstoppable force that was once Rocks, a pirate on the rise. This man wasn’t just strong enough to give Imu a fright, but he also single-handedly claimed the life of an Admiral and stood toe-to-toe with King Harald, a colossal figure. It quickly became evident that it was only Garp, the resilient Marine, who had any hope of subduing not just Rocks himself, but his entire crew. When God arrived at God Valley to challenge Rocks, he indeed received some assistance from his longstanding adversary, Roger.

Although they had their contrasts, the two individuals successfully completed their task, eliminating the Rocks Pirates forever and seemingly defeating Rocks following a fierce struggle. While Roger was revered as the Pirate King, Rocks was the one who held dominion over the seas during his lifetime, but it was Garp who ultimately defeated him for good. Although Garp did receive aid, this feat remains noteworthy given how incredibly powerful Rocks was as a captain at the top of the world.
