Popular Singer DOJA Cat’s X Account Hacked, Here Is Why!

As an experienced cybersecurity analyst, I strongly condemn the recent hacking incident targeting DOJA Cat’s Twitter account to promote a fraudulent Solana Meme Coin. This disturbing trend of exploiting celebrities’ digital presence to manipulate cryptocurrency markets is not only unethical but also damaging to the reputation of the entire industry.

As a crypto analyst, I’ve observed an alarming rise in the frequency of crypto hacks over the past few years. It’s no longer just investors who are at risk; celebrities have also fallen prey to these cybercriminals. Stars like Hulk Hogan and Metallica were previously targeted, using their reputations to promote certain cryptocurrencies. More recently, DOJA Cat’s Twitter account was hacked, with the attackers utilizing her platform to endorse a newly launched Solana Meme Coin.

In this blog, let us discuss why the DOJA Cat’s X account got hacked.

DOJA Cat Hacker Posted Supporting DOJA Meme Coin

DOJA Cat, a renowned figure in the music scene, boasts over 24 million Instagram fans and an additional 5.6 million followers on X platform. Regrettably, her X account was recently targeted by fraudsters who capitalized on this influence to spread crypto promotion scams. As of late yesterday, the account was hacked by cybercriminals, who exploited it to publicize a newly minted coin named DOJA. These unscrupulous individuals utilized DOJA’s fanbase to manipulate market prices by disseminating false endorsements of the meme coin through her account. The initial malicious post emerged around 7:15 pm ET, featuring an image of DOJA holding a knife with the ominous caption “buy DOJA or else.”

Despite this being only the first instance, the hackers went on to publish approximately two dozen promotional messages. They took additional precautions by deleting the profile picture and description from the account. The singer subsequently utilized her Instagram platform to disclose the hacking incident and clarify that she was not connected to these posts.

DOJA Meme Coin Gained  A Good Push

As a researcher studying the dynamics of social media and its impact on financial markets, I’ve come across an intriguing observation. In the initial hour, posts about the meme coin were hacked, leading to a significant surge in its value. However, this upward trend did not persist for long due to suspicions raised by DOJA Cat’s followers. The possibility of these manipulated posts being the result of a hack was strongly suspected. Furthermore, the hacker appeared to have targeted Iggy Azalea, an influential figure in the cryptocurrency community, who is known for her vocal support of meme coins like MOTHER.

As a crypto investor, I was surprised to find out that the recent hack on DOJA tokens didn’t garner the same level of blind following from the community as previous incidents. The market data indicated this, with just 15,000 transactions taking place and generating a meager $2.2 million in volume.

The surge in interest from investors towards meme coins built on the Solana platform has been significant. Regrettably, this trend has also given rise to an unfortunate increase in crypto scams. These scammers have exploited celebrity accounts to disseminate promotions for these coins, casting a negative light on the market and damaging their reputations, despite their lucrative potential.
