The latest Nintendo Direct unveiled the highly anticipated reimagining of Dragon Quest 7, a refreshed version of the beloved role-playing game in the Japanese franchise. In this revamped edition, known as Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, traditional gameplay from the original will blend seamlessly with improved graphics, voiceovers, and an updated narrative.
In the year 2000, Dragon Quest VII: The Lost Echoes of Yesteryears was launched on PlayStation consoles. A few years later in 2013, it was ported to the Nintendo 3DS, and yet another version exclusively for mobile devices was introduced in 2015, only in Japan. This popular game, commonly abbreviated as DQ7, managed to sell more than 4 million copies within just a year of its release. Many fans regard Dragon Quest VII as one of the finest titles in the entire Dragon Quest series.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Release Date

On February 5, 2026, the revamped version of “Dragon Quest 7” titled “Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined” will hit the shelves. This new adaptation promises to recount the original RPG’s story, with enhancements that aim for a smoother narrative flow. The trailer provides a sneak peek at the stunning graphics and hints of exploration and combat scenes, which appear somewhat similar to the original version. Notably, during the event, it was announced that “Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined ” will be playable on both Nintendo Switch versions (1 and 2), in addition to being available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
