The Volt Filament is a tool Hornet can acquire while playing *Hollow Knight: Silksong*. You’ll unlock it in Act 3, as you need specific abilities from that part of the game to obtain it. Here’s a guide to finding the Volt Filament and how to add it to your collection.
Volt Filament Location In Silksong
This item is located in the Sands of Karak region of *Silksong*, just above Blasted Steps. It’s hidden and requires the Super Jump ability to reach.
If you haven’t reached the Sands of Karak yet, you’ll find it by heading west from the Blasted Steps. Once there, you can unlock a shortcut that leads back to an area above the Bellway in Blasted Steps within the game *Silksong*.
You can find the Volt Filament tool by traveling to the Bellway in the Blasted Steps and climbing up to the Sands of Karak. If you haven’t unlocked the bridge shortcut in Sands of Karak yet, you’ll need to take a longer path to the right and then return to unlock it.
After you get to the bridge, activate your ability to travel and go inside the Voltnest, located above the Sands of Karak.
After Hornet enters the Voltnest, you can explore the area or head straight for the boss, Voltvyrm. Be warned: like the Voltnest itself, Voltvyrm is incredibly aggressive and relentlessly attacks with electricity.
Voltvyrm hits hard, but it’s also quite fragile and will constantly back away whenever it’s struck by Hornet. This means it’s actually one of the easier bosses to defeat. Focus on dodging its attacks while using a consistent, automatic attack source, similar to the Cogfly tools in *Silksong*.
Once you defeat Voltvyrm in *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, you’ll unlock a tool that boosts the power of your Silk abilities and adds electrical damage. To get the most out of this tool, called Volt Filament, use it on the Shaman crest, which has three Silk ability slots.
