Okay, so EA and Maxis just dropped a roadmap for The Sims 4 for the rest of 2025, and it’s looking good! Even though the game came out over ten years ago, tons of us are *still* playing every day. They’ve been adding new stuff for a while now, but this roadmap isn’t about *more* content – it’s about fixing the things that have been bugging us and making the game run smoother. Basically, they’re listening to the community and focusing on quality of life improvements, which is awesome!
Even now, with almost 30,000 people playing on Steam, *The Sims 4* has a very lively community thanks to its fun gameplay and regular updates. A free update in August added new ways to customize characters, choose which expansion packs to use in a new game, and improved the game’s performance. Now, the team behind *The Sims 4* has revealed what’s coming next, and players who’ve been waiting for important issues to be fixed should be happy to hear the news.
The developers of *The Sims 4* recently published a plan on their website outlining upcoming updates. The first set of improvements will arrive this month with a Base Game Update for PC and Mac players on September 18th, followed by console players on September 23rd. More details about the console update will be announced tomorrow, September 16th. This month’s update will also include fixes for issues players have reported and voted on in the EA Forums. Finally, players can look forward to some new free content being released on November 4th.

A new trailer for *The Sims 4* recently showed off the features coming in the next expansion pack, Adventure Awaits. Players can expect new locations to explore, as well as updated personality traits for their Sims. A fun new feature lets kids make their imaginary friends real, which could lead to some unpredictable and exciting moments in the game.

In a recent interview, Laura Meile, president of EA Entertainment, suggested that *The Sims 5* is likely still a ways off. She explained that because players have spent so much money on *The Sims 4*, it wouldn’t be fair to ask them to essentially rebuild their progress with a completely new game.
The Sims 4 Quality of Life Roadmap (September 15, 2025)
September 2025: Base Game Update
We’re releasing the core game update scheduled for September a bit earlier. This gives us more time to find and fix any problems players might experience with different computer setups and game settings. It also lets mod developers get their creations ready before the new Adventure Awaits expansion launches.
- PC/Mac: September 18
- Console: September 23 (after additional verification)
Once verified, this update will be available on consoles. Because the PC and Mac versions are currently on a more recent version, console players should use the PlayStation and Xbox filters in the Gallery until the update arrives on September 23rd.
- For Mod Creators: TDESC files will be shared in The Sims Discord ahead of the update.
- Coming Information on Update: Laundry List on September 16 & Patch Notes on September 18.
September 2025: Community Prioritized Fixes
As a big fan, I’m really happy to see the team is focusing all their energy on fixing the problems we, the players, are talking about most on the EA Forums! They’re committed to making the game as good as possible, and they’re saying they’ll work on whatever issues have the most votes. Right now, they’re looking closely at the problems marked as ‘Under Investigation’ and those where they still need a little more information from us.
The Sims 4 Bug Reports | EA Forums
- The earlier we receive votes, the better.
- We’ll provide an update on our progress if we’re unable to address top-voted issues in our October Laundry List.
We’re still looking into the save file problems. Please keep reporting and voting on the issues you’re experiencing – your feedback helps us prioritize what to fix next.
For instructions, see the “How It Works” section of the full announcement.
October 2025: Monitoring & Addressing Fixes
We’re finishing up the checks to make sure the Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack works well on all platforms and meets our quality standards. This includes testing by both the Sims team and a group of experienced players from our community who we’ve paid to provide feedback.
The Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack comes out on October 2nd. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the EA Forums to quickly address any problems that might pop up.
November 2025: Fixes & Freebies for Everyone
November 4. Mark your calendars. This will be a big day!
This update includes improvements based on your suggestions, plus some fresh, free content for everyone.
The Ongoing Work
We understand you’re experiencing problems with The Sims 4, and we value your feedback. Reporting issues and suggesting improvements on the EA Forums – whether it’s about gameplay, creating Sims, or visual glitches – will directly influence how we update and improve the game.
