Okay, so get this – is actually playable again! It was basically abandoned, but a group of fans built their own servers, letting us all jump back in and race. It’s called , and it works as a mod if you already own the game on PC. It’s awesome being able to play online and offline with this thing – it really brings the game back to life!

First released online in 2014, the game *The Crew* was unexpectedly removed from access by Ubisoft in November 2024. While Ubisoft continues to support *The Crew 2* and *The Crew Motorfest*, the original *The Crew* is no longer officially available. This decision upset many players, leading to a lawsuit against Ubisoft and the creation of the Stop Killing Games movement. Stop Killing Games has gathered over 1.4 million signatures through a European Citizens’ Initiative, aiming to allow players to keep playing online-only games like *The Crew*-through servers or other means-even after the developers discontinue them.

The Crew Is Back Thanks To A Fan-Made Revival Project

Even though Ubisoft shut down the original *The Crew*, fans have brought it back to life through a mod. Called *The Crew Unlimited*, this mod lets players download and enjoy the game again by using a custom server emulator. This allows for both online and offline play – the offline mode works by running a server directly on the player’s computer. To play *The Crew Unlimited*, players need to download a launcher that updates and manages the original game’s files and saved progress.

So, I’m really excited about *The Crew Unlimited*, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Apparently, to play it, you *have* to already own the original *The Crew* on PC before the servers shut down next year. They’re worried people might resort to piracy to get the game if they don’t. It’s kinda weird though, because the *Unlimited* team said on their Discord they can’t actually *check* if you have a legit copy or not. Oh, and just so you know, *The Crew Unlimited* isn’t connected to Ubisoft or Ivory Tower – it’s a fan project!

As a big fan of *The Crew*, I was so excited to hear rumors over the summer that a fourth game might be in the works! It’s great to see Ubisoft isn’t giving up on the series. Now, I’m really hoping they listen to us fans and keep the franchise going strong – I can’t wait to see what they do next!
