One of the best parts of Borderlands 4 is its side quests, and “No Place Like Home” is a standout mission you can tackle early on Kairos. This quest asks you to find a few important items for Claptrap, but some Borderlands 4 players are getting stuck during certain parts of it.
This is a fairly straightforward quest, especially compared to some of Borderlands 4‘s other side missions, but some of the quest steps are bugged. Key items can disappear and become unobtainable, or invisible barriers can prevent you from progressing forward. Thankfully, there are workarounds for these issues. Here’s how to complete No Place Like Home in Borderlands 4.
Meet Claptrap in the Hungering Plains
You can begin the “No Place Like Home” quest by finding Claptrap at a camp in the Hungering Plains. This quest becomes available once you’ve met the Outbounders and gotten your first vehicle. Claptrap’s camp is a short drive southeast of The Launchpad, which is where the Outbounders live.
Find Claptrap’s Old Portrait

The first step of this quest is to track down one of Claptrap’s old portraits at an Order base nearby. You need to gain access to the depot with a keycard first, however.
Go to the Order base and defeat the Big Orange Hothead miniboss. He has several health bars, and is especially vulnerable to shock and corrosive damage. After defeating him, collect the keycard he drops along with the other loot.
The keycard can glitch out and fall through the ground after killing the Big Orange Hothead. If this happens, reload your last save.

Once you have the keycard, head to the marked door. The switch doesn’t work, so you have to find another way in. Follow the wire through the hole in the wall to find a secret entrance activated by a second switch. Head inside and grab the portrait to continue.
Find VR-ON1CA’s Processor

Next, Claptrap asks you to retrieve VR-ON1CA’s processor from a nearby area. The processor is locked inside a storage room, but you can flip the nearby switch to turn on a laser that’ll get you inside.
Once the laser is on, head down to the solar panels and use the grappling hook to rotate them so the laser reflects back at the locked door. Once the path is clear, head inside and grab the processor to continue.
The door might sometimes malfunction and prevent you from entering, even if it appears open. If that happens, go back to a previous save and redo the laser puzzle.
Track Down the Crimson Resistance Asset

Finally, you need to track down a Crimson Resistance asset at the top of the tower. Make your way to the top using your grapple hook and glide ability. You can pull down some of the panels on the tower walls and use them as footholds. At the top of the tower, grab the mask from the psycho inside the porta potty.
Blow Up the Raft

For the final step of the quest, Claptrap asks you to load all of his stuff onto a raft and tie explosives onto it. Launch the boat out onto the water, then shoot the explosives when Claptrap is ready to blow everything up and complete the quest.
This optional quest gives you money and weapons, but don’t expect to find top-tier, legendary items here. The really powerful guns in *Borderlands 4* come from defeating bosses and completing activities around the world, so be sure to watch for special events while you’re exploring Kairos.
