Players are experiencing server and connection issues with the newly released early access version of *Skate*. This is particularly disappointing for those who have been looking forward to the game.
It’s been fifteen years since a new Skate game, and five years since it was first announced, so players were incredibly eager for its release by EA. This new Skate is free-to-play, unlike previous games in the series, which likely contributed to the huge initial interest. However, it appears EA didn’t anticipate just how much excitement there would be.
EA’s Skate Has Launch Day Server Issues
Since its release in Early Access on September 16th, *Skate* has been plagued with connection problems and server issues. Players are reporting incredibly long wait times to get into the game, with some seeing queues of over 25,000 or even 50,000 players ahead of them. Many frustrated fans have given up trying to play for the day, hoping the situation will improve once the initial rush of players subsides.
Despite successfully downloading *Skate* and getting into the game, many players are still facing issues. Common problems include connection errors that force them back into the waiting queue, and getting stuck on endless loading screens after finishing the tutorial. One player reported that the game falsely claimed they had no internet connection right after they finished waiting in line, sending them to the back of an even longer queue.

Many gamers have expressed frustration with recent online-only games, particularly because older versions allowed for offline play. While long wait times are typical when a popular game launches, these connection issues are even more annoying for players who aren’t interested in the online aspects. Fortunately, things should improve soon. The developers of *Skate* quickly responded to the high demand and are adding more servers to reduce wait times. As of now, more players are successfully accessing the game, though some are still having trouble staying connected.
