Many players are still experiencing performance issues with Borderlands 4, so some modders are creating their own fixes instead of waiting for Gearbox Software to release an official patch.
I’m a huge Borderlands fan, and I’m really bummed that the launch of Borderlands 4 has been dominated by talk of performance problems. From what I’ve seen, everyone agrees the game itself is actually great – the story, the characters, the loot – but even people with top-of-the-line computers are struggling to get a smooth framerate. It’s frustrating! And honestly, I was pretty shocked to see Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford responding to complaints on X by basically telling people to build their own game engine if they think it’s easy. It just doesn’t feel like the right way to handle things when fans are clearly having issues.
New Borderlands 4 Mods are Improving the Performance
As a huge *Borderlands 4* fan on PC, I’ve been following the performance issues, and it’s awesome to see the community step up! A couple of mods, Ultimate Engine Tweaks and Borderlands Optimizer, have really been helping people out – they’ve already been downloaded almost 50,000 times! From what I understand, Ultimate Engine Tweaks smooths things out by cutting down on stutters and improving overall performance without making the game look worse. Borderlands Optimizer focuses on reducing those annoying hitches by making the game load things more efficiently.

Since many PC players are experiencing performance problems with *Borderlands 4*, it’s understandable that mods like this are becoming popular while the game developers work on improvements. Keep in mind that these mods don’t always work the same way for everyone, but they’re worth a try if you’re looking for a way to boost performance.

It’s still early days for *Borderlands 4*, so it’s reasonable to expect improvements with future updates. Gearbox has also shared plans for the months ahead, promising plenty of new content after launch. Hopefully, any performance problems will be fixed long before that new content arrives.
