In EA’s new *Skate.* reboot, players arriving in San Vansterdam will have access to tons of tricks. But with so many maneuvers to learn, it can be tough to remember them all! Don’t worry, we’re here to help. We’ll show you how to use the in-game *Skatepedia* and provide a complete list of every trick currently available in *Skate*.
Skate uses a unique control system called the Flick-It System, which has been a core part of the game since the beginning. You steer with the left stick and control the skateboard itself with the right stick. In this guide, we’ll list each trick and explain how to perform it using the Flick-It controls.
How to Access Skatepedia in Skate
Skatepedia is a complete guide to every trick in the game *Skate*. You can find it in the main menu – just press X (or Square) to open it.
Keep in mind that things like whether you ride Frontside or Backside depend on your character’s stance, which significantly changes how the controls work. Our character is set to ride Goofy. If you prefer a regular-footed stance, the controls will be reversed. You’ll find all trick instructions listed in Skatepedia, tailored to your character’s current stance.
All Basic Riding Tricks in Skate
Learn Your Skate Basics:
All trick controls in this guide are based on the Classic gameplay mode. You can change to Streamlined or Experienced modes in the Gameplay settings, but the controls will be slightly different. Please note that we are demonstrating using an Xbox Series X. If you’re on PlayStation, use these button swaps: A becomes X, X becomes Square, Y becomes Triangle, and B becomes Circle.

Nollie Tricks:
In skateboarding, a Nollie is a trick where you pop the board using your nose instead of the tail. You can perform almost any basic trick as a Nollie – it’s the same list of tricks, but you initiate them with the nose. This reverses the direction of the board’s rotation. We’ll show some examples to demonstrate how it works. The same principles apply to Fakie, which is riding backwards. If you’re new to skateboarding, you can think of Fakie as a ‘Switch Nollie’ – essentially a Nollie performed while riding backwards.

Grind Tricks:
To do grind tricks, ride towards any ledge or rail at a slight angle – almost parallel to it. If you approach from your toeside, it’s called a Frontside grind. Approaching from your heel side makes it a Backside grind. To actually grind, first ollie, and then quickly perform the flick motion as shown in the video below.
