The Director’s Cut version of *Yakuza 0* will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S starting December 8, 2025. This date is meaningful to fans of the *Yakuza* series, as other releases are also planned for that day.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio recently held a presentation announcing exciting news and updates for their games. A major highlight was the reveal of *Yakuza Kiwami 3*, a rebuilt version of the 2009 title, planned for release in February 2026. Before that, fans will be able to enjoy an updated edition of *Yakuza 0*, coming out a few months prior.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Release Date
Originally released on June 5th as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, *Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut* will become available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC consoles on December 8, 2025. You can already add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store, and it’s also listed on the Microsoft Store and Steam. The developer has announced that pre-orders for physical copies will soon be open for all platforms, with both digital and physical versions priced around $50.
Okay, so you’re probably wondering what’s different about the Director’s Cut of *Yakuza 0*. Honestly, it feels like the *final* version of the game. They’ve added a ton of new cutscenes that really dive into the backgrounds of all the characters, which is awesome. Plus, they completely re-did the English voice acting, and now there are subtitles in French, German, Spanish, and Italian! There’s even a new online multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid where you can fight a bunch of different characters. Just a heads up though – if you’re on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC, it doesn’t seem to have *anything* extra compared to the Switch version that came out earlier this year.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the *Like a Dragon* and *Yakuza* series on December 8th, *Yakuza Kiwami* and *Yakuza Kiwami 2* are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. These remakes were previously available on older consoles, but are now being updated for current-generation hardware. They’re expected to be reasonably priced, likely around $20, similar to the versions available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
