Gran Turismo 7 Reveals Huge Spec 3 Update for December

Polyphony Digital, the team behind Gran Turismo 7, has announced Spec 3, their biggest update yet for the racing simulator. Coming this December, the update will add a wealth of new content to the game, including cars, tracks, features, and events.

Since its release in March 2022, Polyphony Digital has consistently released free monthly updates for *Gran Turismo 7*. The September 2025 update (version 1.63) followed the usual pattern, adding five new cars, new races in World Circuits, and a new location for Scapes. But just one day after releasing Update 1.63, Polyphony Digital announced a much larger update is on the way.

During a PlayStation presentation in September 2025, Kazunori Yamauchi from Polyphony Digital unexpectedly announced a major update for *Gran Turismo 7* called Spec 3. Coming in December 2025, this will be the game’s biggest update yet, and it will be available at no cost for players on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The update will include two new race tracks: Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.

Update 3.0 for *Gran Turismo 7* adds eight new cars, including the Mitsubishi FTO, Ferrari 296 GT3, a tuned Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 by Mine’s, and a Formula 1 car reminiscent of early 2000s designs. Players will also gain access to a new Data Logger feature, allowing them to analyze their throttle and brake inputs with a graph after each race to identify areas for improvement. Other improvements include removing expiration dates on Brand Central invites, raising the maximum Collector Level beyond 50, and adding a new opening cinematic.

The latest update for *Gran Turismo 7*, called Spec 3, is version 1.64. Since the previous update was 1.63, it’s likely there won’t be any further new content added to the game until December. However, this Spec 3 update is so substantial that it should more than make up for the wait. During the update announcement, Kazunori Yamauchi also shared that the *Gran Turismo* series has now sold over 100 million copies worldwide – a huge milestone for the popular PlayStation racing franchise.
