As a long-time fan of hero shooters and science fiction games, I’ve been keeping a close eye on Concord since its announcement. The pedigree of its development team, consisting of veterans from Halo, Call of Duty, and Destiny, has me excited for what they might bring to the table. Having followed their progress closely, I was thrilled when PlayStation announced an open beta for this intriguing new title.
As an assistant gamer, I’m excited to share that the team behind the upcoming hero-shooter game, Concord, has announced their beta rewards. With a development crew boasting past projects like Halo, Call of Duty, and Destiny under their belts, I can’t help but feel optimistic about the potential success of this title.
For some time, PlayStation has had high hopes for this game’s success. Before any information about the game was shared with the public, Sony acquired Firewalk Studios, the developer behind Concord. This secret acquisition piqued the interest of gamers, who assumed that the studio was working on something exceptional. To gather feedback and fine-tune the game, Firewalk is conducting an open beta testing phase. The goal is to create a final product that meets the expectations of both Firewalk and Sony, resulting in a blockbuster hit.
Participants in the Open Beta, which concludes on July 21, will receive a “Lil’ Frog” weapon decoration and a “Star Flare” Business Card upon Concord’s official launch on August 23. In-game, “Frog” represents From Orbit to Ground, a nod to the vessel used by characters in cutscenes. The Business Card functions as evidence of beta participation, being displayed when players exchange information with one another.
Concord Beta Rewards
- Lil’ Frog Weapon Charm
- Star Flare Business Card
As a gamer, I’ve given Concord a try and while the rewards are appealing, my overall experience with the game has been underwhelming at best. Don’t get me wrong, Firewalk Studios boasts some impressive credentials as a developer, and the core gameplay is definitely something to write home about. However, capturing my interest in all the intricacies of its universe and lore feels like an insurmountable challenge.
Using Concord, many gamers and even those intrigued by the game have made observations akin to Guardians of the Galaxy. The similarities between the two lie primarily in Concord’s character and visual design. However, revealing more of Concord’s distinct personality prior to its release could attract more players; titles such as Overwatch have done this effectively by unveiling their universe through a series of pre-launch shorts. Concord intends to follow suit by gradually releasing cinematic vignettes to showcase its lore, but sharing some of these earlier might be beneficial.
