New poster for Netflix’s Frankenstein gives us our best look yet at Jacob Elordi’s freaky and fleshy monster – and I’m ready for Guillermo del Toro’s next gothic horror

A fresh poster for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is here… and it gives us the best view yet of Jacob Elordi as the fleshy and frightening monster.

The poster, visible below, features a long-haired, somewhat unkempt Elordi wearing a fur coat. A closer look reveals the monster’s face is disturbingly constructed – either from stitched-together pieces of skin taken from different bodies, or completely decayed. Both options are equally unsettling! We can also see his hand has no skin, exposing the tendons underneath. Given that Guillermo del Toro doesn’t usually stick to conventions, I’m pleased to see a Frankenstein’s monster that moves away from the usual neck bolts and XXXX. You can view the poster below.

It’s important to point out that Jacob Elordi’s version of the monster is noticeably different from Christian Bale’s in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride. Bale’s monster features the traditional stitching on his forehead and a generally disfigured, scarred face-and, strangely enough, he also has a chest tattoo.

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, centers on Dr. Pretorious (Christoph Waltz). He’s on a mission to find Frankenstein’s Monster (Jacob Elordi), who everyone thinks perished in a fire four decades earlier. Pretorious needs to locate the Monster to resume and expand upon the risky experiments originally conducted by Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac).

I’m really excited about the actors in this! The cast features Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, and Christian Convery, plus some seriously amazing veterans like Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, and Ralph Ineson. I’ve been following their work for ages!
