October 5 Will Be A Sad Day For One Piece Anime Fans

Watching the One Piece anime, I’ve seen firsthand just how popular it is – it’s been consistently great for a really long time. It’s definitely faced some criticism over the years, but a lot of fans, myself included, noticed a big improvement starting with the Wano arc, even with other problems still being apparent. The Egghead Island arc has been particularly exciting in the anime, and honestly, the quality has been fantastic overall. However, there’s a major issue right now. Since the 6-month break that happened in late 2024 and stretched into early 2025, the anime has been plagued by frequent breaks, and it doesn’t look like things are going to get better anytime soon.

This wasn’t an issue before the production pause, but it was recently announced that the One Piece anime will have two breaks in October. The first break begins on October 5th, with the anime expected to resume airing on October 19th.

The One Piece Anime Is Going On A Long Break

  • No New Episode on October 5
  • A Recap Episode on October 12

For a while now, fans of the One Piece anime have known about a break in October. Specifically, the anime was set to pause on October 5, 2025, meaning the next episode, One Piece 1146, would be delayed. However, no one anticipated a delay of more than a week. There won’t be a new episode on October 5, but instead, October 12 will feature a filler episode. This episode will be a special recap focusing on CP0. These kinds of filler episodes have been fairly common this year. Fans are very disappointed with two breaks in a row because the previous One Piece episode, 1145, was exciting and left viewers anticipating major events on Egghead.

When Will One Piece’s Anime Return?

One Piece Should Return on October 19

Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, it’s likely that the One Piece anime will be back soon after its two-week break. With that in mind, One Piece fans can anticipate episode 1146 to be released on October 19, 2025. After that, there shouldn’t be any further breaks in October. In the meantime, the next chapter of One Piece will be available next week. As always, both the anime and manga for One Piece will be released on Sundays. In Japan, the One Piece manga comes out at 12 AM JST on Mondays, but in the US, it’s typically released on Sundays. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
