One Piece Characters Who Need Devil Fruits After The Elbaf Arc

The Elbaf arc has been quite revealing for many One Piece characters, particularly those who previously overestimated their abilities. Witnessing the power of figures like Imu, Shamrock, and Gunko served as a humbling experience, making them realize they weren’t as strong as they thought.

Several members of the Straw Hat crew are due for power increases, which could happen through gaining new Devil Fruits or mastering Haki. Beyond the main heroes, many other characters in One Piece would also be significantly strengthened by eating Devil Fruits. Considering this, here’s a list of characters who could really use a Devil Fruit after the events at Elbaf.

Usopp

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

  • Haki: Yes

I’ve observed that Usopp is the sniper for the Straw Hat Pirates. He’s actually the son of the famous sniper, Yasopp. It’s clear he really looks up to his father and strives to be just like him. When we first met him, Usopp wasn’t physically strong; he had to depend on his cleverness and tricks to overcome his opponents. He was, to put it simply, a bit of a weakling at the start.

Following the two-year timeskip, Usopp improved his physical strength and awakened Observation Haki. However, even with these advancements, he’s still not strong enough to defeat top-level snipers such as Van Augur, Yasopp, Izo, and Perospero. He’s largely been a supporting character in the Elbaf arc thus far, making a Devil Fruit crucial for his growth. A Devil Fruit would allow him to move beyond solely relying on his sniping abilities. For example, a fruit like Blamenco’s Poke Poke no Mi would be a perfect match for his skillset.

Nami

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

  • Haki: No

Nami serves as the navigator for the Straw Hat Pirates, responsible for steering the ship and guiding the crew to various islands. However, being part of a crew associated with a Yonko, she’s often found battling powerful enemies. During the Wano Country arc, she faced a near-fatal encounter with Ulti. She barely survived, highlighting the urgent need for her to become stronger and gain a power-up.

Nami has the powerful Zeus, a homie created by Big Mom, fighting with her. Even by itself, Zeus is strong enough to help Nami win battles in the Final Saga. Given Zeus’s power to create thunder, it makes sense for Nami to gain a similar ability herself. Therefore, Enel’s Goro Goro no Mi would be an ideal Devil Fruit for her to acquire, perfectly complementing her existing strengths.

Koby

Affiliation: SWORD, Marines

  • Haki: Yes

Koby belongs to SWORD, a clandestine unit within the Navy. Members of this group have the autonomy to operate independently, as they report to superiors. However, the Marines do not accept responsibility for the well-being of SWORD members.

Koby has improved significantly since becoming a Marine, but he’s still far from reaching the strength of someone like Luffy. He’s mastered both Armament Haki and Observation Haki, but he wouldn’t stand a chance against powerful opponents like Crocodile, Zoro, Mihawk, or pirates of that level. Koby is still young, though, and has the potential to become much stronger – perhaps by eating a Devil Fruit and unlocking new abilities.

Tashigi

Affiliation: Marines, World Government

  • Haki: No

Tashigi works for Smoker, so she’s usually with him. She hopes to recover all the famous swords that pirates and criminals have stolen. While she has a big goal, she currently lacks the strength and skills to achieve it.

During the Punk Hazard arc, Tashigi played a relatively minor role, mostly observing the events unfold. She wasn’t strong enough to fight against opponents like Vergo and Monet and ultimately needed to be saved by Sanji and Zoro. If the author, Oda, intends to feature Tashigi prominently in the Final Saga, she’ll likely need to become more powerful. While developing her Haki would be a good step, giving her a Devil Fruit would be an even better way to increase her abilities.

Nefertari Vivi

Affiliation: Alabasta, Straw Hat Pirates

  • Haki: No

Vivi first appeared during the Little Garden arc, and she briefly became a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. While she enjoyed traveling with the crew, she ultimately chose to remain in her country to rebuild it. Following the passing of Cobra, she is now the heir to the throne of Alabasta, and her people couldn’t be more pleased with their future leader. Vivi is a kind and compassionate person who truly cares for her citizens, always willing to risk her own safety for their well-being. She even went undercover within Baroque Works, determined to find a way to defeat Crocodile.

For quite some time, Nefertari Vivi has been a person of interest to Imu. The highest authority within the World Government is determined to get rid of Vivi, and it seems this is connected to her family history. Vivi isn’t particularly powerful, so she requires safeguarding. A simple solution to this would be to grant her a Devil Fruit.

Franky

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

  • Haki: No

Franky is the shipwright for the Straw Hat Pirates, joining the crew following the events at Enies Lobby. He’s a bit of an oddball, but there’s no question he’s incredibly talented. For years, Franky has been designing and building new gadgets and inventions. He’s also uniquely able to modify his own body, utilizing blueprints originally created by Vegapunk.

Franky’s most recent significant battle was in the Wano Country arc, against Sasaki, a member of the Tobi Roppi. Franky performed very well and ultimately won the fight. However, he doesn’t currently have the abilities needed to effectively fight enemies in the Final Saga. Since it’s improbable that Franky will develop Haki, gaining a Devil Fruit appears to be the most logical way for him to become stronger.
