When you first start playing Digimon Story Time Stranger, you’ll be asked to choose one of three starter Digimon: DemiDevimon, Gomamon, and Patamon. Players often want to know more about each one before making a decision. This guide is designed to help with that, offering information to help you pick the best starter Digimon in Digimon Story Time Stranger.
Okay, so before I dive into which starter is best in Digimon Story Time Stranger, I want to stress something: you should really just pick the Digimon you like the most. Seriously, you’ll eventually be able to get all three starters pretty easily, so the choice isn’t that big of a deal. I’ve got more info below about how to get them later on, but honestly, just go with the one that looks the coolest to you!
Best Starter in Digimon Story Time Stranger

Because Time Stranger allows players to get all three starter Digimon, the “best” one to choose is arguably the one that takes the longest to acquire after your initial pick. This means Patamon is the most efficient choice, as you can obtain DemiDevimon and Gomamon beforehand. However, all three starters are available quite early in the game, and ultimately, players should simply choose the one they enjoy playing with the most.
How to Get All Starters in Digimon Story Time Stranger
DemiDevimon
You can obtain DemiDevimon at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, which is accessible early in the game. Just transform a Kuramon – you’ll find these Digimon throughout the area – into Pagumon, and then continue the digivolution process to get DemiDevimon.
Players can also transform Impmon or Gazimon – both located in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building – into Pagumon, and then further digivolve it into DemiDevimon.
Gomamon
Shortly after the battle at the top of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, players will explore the Shinjuku Underground Waterway during the Reunions Bring Trouble quest. In this location, players can discover Bukamon, and they have the option to transform it and evolve it into Gomamon.
Patamon
Players will go back to the Shinjuku Underground Waterway as they continue the story with the Resonating Thoughts mission. This mission starts soon after finishing Reunions Bring Trouble. During this part of the game, players will be able to discover Tokomon, which can then be transformed and digivolved into Patamon.
Although it will take players a bit more time to unlock Patamon compared to DemiDevimon and Gomamon, they can generally unlock it in under five hours.
