The One Piece manga is presently detailing the events of the God Valley Incident, a historical event that happened 38 years prior on a certain island. What’s particularly remarkable about the God Valley Incident is the large number of incredibly powerful and famous characters who participated in it.

Considering the characters shown, it was clear this would be a hugely significant event in the history of One Piece. From the beginning of the flashback, Oda has been sharing new information about various characters, including how strong they are.

Rayleigh Defeated Sommers With A Single Hit

In Chapter 1161, Oda explained that Rayleigh was the one who rescued Shakky from the Holy Knights and the World Government. Shakky had been captured specifically to be the prize in the Celestial Dragons’ Hunting Competition. As word of her capture spread, pirates from all over the world began traveling to God Valley, hoping to save her.

Roger was always captivated by Shakky’s beauty, which is why he and his crew journeyed to God Valley. The competition was intense, preventing Roger from reaching Shakky, but Rayleigh managed to get past the defenses. He used a powerful attack to defeat Shepherd Sommers and free Shakky. Knowing Shakky only loved Rayleigh, she was thrilled to see him.

Although Oda didn’t show us exactly how strong prime Rayleigh is, he did give us a taste of his power. The pirate effortlessly defeated Sommers with just one blow, which is quite impressive. One Piece fans already know how incredibly powerful Sommers is – he completely overpowered the Straw Hat Pirates and would have defeated them if Gaban hadn’t stepped in. By defeating Sommers so easily, Rayleigh further proved he’s a truly legendary fighter. This highlights just how strong he is.

Even though Rayleigh rescued Shakky, the turmoil in God Valley is far from over. Many events are still unfolding on the island, and we haven’t seen everything yet. Fans are especially eager to witness the legendary battle between Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Garp, and Davy D. Xebec.

Everyone generally agrees that this individual was the most powerful fighter of their time, which explains why Roger and Garp needed to work together.

It’s still unclear why Roger chose to battle Xebec at God Valley. Although they were both pirates, their goals differed. Xebec’s sole purpose was to save his wife and son, whereas Roger aimed to rescue Shakky and acquire treasures. Therefore, a fight between them didn’t seem logical. It’s also important to note that Garp went to God Valley simply because he wanted to fight Roger.

I remember the God Valley Incident being more than just a conflict; it really changed things for a lot of people. For characters like Kuma, Ivankov, and Ginny, it was like getting a second chance at life. They’d spent so much of their lives as slaves, and the Incident offered them a glimmer of hope, a way out. It was a turning point, giving them a fresh start after years of hardship. It was incredible to witness their resilience.

For Blackbeard, Shanks, and Shamrock, this marked the start of a fresh chapter in their lives. Shanks and Shamrock eventually went their separate ways, leading very different lives. Blackbeard, deeply affected by the harsh treatment he received from the Celestial Dragons, chose to avoid conflict and live peacefully.

The God Valley Incident greatly affected Monkey D. Dragon, who was then a common Marine soldier. Witnessing the terrible acts of the World Government deeply impacted him, inspiring him to seek change. He initially established the Freedom Fighters, and subsequently created the Revolutionary Army.

The flashback is still unfolding, and viewers can expect to uncover more details about these characters and what happened before. For the time being, fans will need to be patient and allow Oda to publish new chapters when he’s ready.
