All Mythic Tales in Ghost of Yotei

Each area in Ghost of Yotei features a Mythic Tale, and there are a total of 7 Mythic Tales to discover across Ezo. These tales each tell the story of a legendary samurai, and Atsu will face them in challenging battles that test both her fighting skills and intelligence. Takezo the Unrivaled in Ghost of Yotei

Takezo the Unrivaled Location & Reward

  • Location: Dueling Tree at the Shikotsu River, Yotei Grasslands
  • Rewards: Charm of the Unrelenting Warrior, Charm of Bold Deflection, Charm of Renewed Determination, Charm of Bracing Victory, Charm of the Stout Heart, Dual Katanas Spirit Attack

In order to start the Takezo the Unrivaled Mythic Tale, players must duel a Disciple of Takezo at any of the 5 Dueling Trees. The easiest Dueling Tree to find is south of the Shikotsu River in the Yotei Grasslands. Once you have traveled here, you can interact with the Disciple of Takezo and initiate a Fight to the Death. After beating this ronin, you will need to find 4 additional Dueling Trees and beat the Disciples of Takezo that await beneath them. These are scattered across Ezo, but here’s a quick overview:

  • Northwest of the Yotei River in Yotei Grasslands
  • South of the Tomamu Marshlands in Tokachi Range
  • West of Yubari Lake in Tokachi Range
  • East of Boar’s Eye Cave in Tokachi Range

Once you’ve defeated all 5 of Takezo’s Disciples at their individual Dueling Trees, you’ll receive 5 Charms for each victory.

Charm Description
Takezo’s Charm of the Unrelenting Warrior Deal bonus damage while at low Health.
Takezo’s Charm of Bold Deflection Parrying inflicts a minor amount of additional Stagger damage.
Takezo’s Charm of Renewed Determination Earns a minor amount of Spirit when taking damage from an enemy.
Takezo’s Charm of Bracing Victory Killing Staggered enemies earns a minor amount of Health.
Takezo’s Charm of the Stout Heart Increases potency of the Heal Technique by a minor amount.

To finish up, players need to locate Takezo at the Coastal Dueling Tree on the southern coast of the Yotei Grasslands. He’ll be near a campfire, and you can simply wait there for him.

The Five Teachings is a Mythic Tale you automatically receive after finishing the quest ‘Takezo the Unrivaled’. To start it, you need to equip all 5 of Takezo’s Charms, which you get from defeating his Disciples, and then travel to Mount Yotei in the Yotei Grasslands. You’ll have to climb to the top of Mount Yotei (walkthrough here), and then fight Takezo to the death. If you win, you’ll earn the Straw Hat of the Unrivaled, the Gilded Night and Gilded Dawn Weapon Kits, and the Unrivaled Trophy.

The Undying Samurai in Ghost of Yotei

The Undying Samurai is a Mythic Tale found in the Ishikari Plain. The tale begins in the northern part of Nakagoya Spring, specifically at Storyteller’s Rest – it’s located right across from a tree guarded by a hostile bear. Here, players will encounter Ugatsu the Storyteller, who shares the legend of the Undying Samurai. To progress, you’ll need to locate 4 wind chimes, which will reveal the location of the Undying Samurai’s lair and allow you to challenge him. Successfully defeating him in a duel rewards you with the Armor of the Undying, granting these buffs:

  • If weapon aligned, Staggering enemies restores Health.
  • If weapon aligned, the window to perform Perfect Parry and Perfect Dodge is increased.
  • If weapon aligned, Focus Attacks have a chance to increase Stagger damage.

The Spider Lily General in Ghost of Yotei

You can begin the Spider Lily General quest by traveling south from the Huranui’s Rest Inn in the Tokachi Range. Continue heading south, deeper into the Shizaunai Woods, until you find a Mysterious Gate. As you approach the locked gate, you’ll meet Ugatsu the Storyteller, who will share the story of the Spider Lily General and the dangers that lie ahead in the fog. If you’re courageous enough to pass through the Mysterious Gate, you’ll enter the fog-covered Abandoned Tominaga Estate. Here, you’ll need to locate 4 different keys. Ultimately, you’ll battle the Spider Lily General and receive the Spider Lily Armor as a reward, which provides the following buffs:

  • Enemies have a chance to drop throwable weapons.
  • Stagger damage inflicted by melee weapons increases.
  • Staggering an enemy has a chance of dealing Stagger damage to nearby enemies.

The Legend of Opusnupuri in Ghost of Yotei

The Legend of Opusnupuri Location & Reward

  • Location: Niptay Mountain, Nayoro Wilds

You can start The Legend of Opusnupri after you find Huci at Husko Kotan in the Nayoro Wilds. Talk to the Yukar Storyteller at Husko Kotan to listen to the story of The Legend of Opusnupuri. The quest involves climbing Niptay Mountain to find Okikurmi’s Arrow. It’s a difficult, cold trip that finishes with a fight against a powerful bear from the frozen lands, the Bad Kamuy. If you finish this Mythic Tale, you’ll get the Charm of True Aim: The Yumi will automatically target enemies and shoot arrows, dealing a lot of damage.

The Crimson Kimono in Ghost of Yotei

You can begin The Crimson Kimono by talking to Ugetsu the Storyteller near the big orange tree in the eastern part of the Sakuru Woods in Teshio Ridge. This tree is known as the Mother Daughter Tree. To start the quest, players should now look at the snow sculpture next to Ugetsu. The quest requires you to follow a path marked by orange trees, snow sculptures, and scrolls you can read. Completing this path will reward you with the Crimson Kimono Armor, which provides these benefits:

  • Chain Assassinations can be performed with Kunai
  • Enemy detection is reduced by a massive amount
  • Kusarigama Assassinations can be unleashed from further away.

The concluding Mythic Tale could reveal plot details that some players prefer to discover on their own, so please read with caution if you’d like to remain surprised.

The Storm Blade in Ghost of Yotei

The Storm Blade Location & Reward

  • Location: Forgotten Shrine, Oshima Coast
  • Rewards: Ghost Mask, Stag Helmet, Storm Blade Weapon Kit, Dance of Wrath, From One Ghost to Another Trophy

You can begin The Storm Blade Mythic Tale by heading to the Forgotten Shrine in the southwest area of Oshima Coast. The Storm Blade is unique as it’s the only quest in Ghost of Yotei that references Jin Sakai, serving as a lovely and fitting homage to the Ghost of Tsushima hero. This quest allows players to discover what became of Jin Sakai more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. We won’t reveal too much of the story – it’s a wonderful Mythic Tale about the very first Shinobi and well worth experiencing – but completing it will reward you with some of Jin’s familiar equipment.
