Ghost of Yotei includes 8 songs for players to discover and play, each offering a distinct sound and effect. You can find every song from Ghost of Yotei here, allowing you to develop Atsu into not only a skilled swordsman, but also a talented musician. While the shamisen won’t directly help Atsu in battles against the Yotei Six, it definitely enhances the atmosphere of camps and even gives him a way to locate hidden treasures.
How to Get Atsu’s Song in Ghost of Yotei
Atsu’s Song Location and Effects

- Location: Home, Yotei Grasslands (Automatically acquired during the Prologue)
- Effect: None
Players unlock Atsu’s Song right at the beginning of the game – it’s given to you automatically as you play through the story. After the Prologue, the game starts you at Atsu’s former Home in the Yotei Grasslands, where you’ll experience flashbacks and the present day. Once you’ve learned to play the shamisen in a cutscene with Atsu’s mother, you’ll receive Atsu’s Song. This song is a tutorial piece and doesn’t have any special effects.
How to Get Song of Spirit in Ghost of Yotei
Song of Spirit Location and Effects

- Location: Master Heijiro’s Garden, Yotei River, Yotei Grasslands
- Effect: Discover Bamboo Strikes locations.
You’ll receive the Song of Spirit by completing the Side Tale “Master of the Shamisen”. To find this Side Tale, go north of the Yotei Grasslands and cross the Yotei River until you reach Master Heijiro’s Garden. Look for the purple flowers near the cliff, and use the Touch Pad to experience a memory from the past. Inside this flashback, talk to Atsu’s mother to start the Side Tale. Once you finish the Side Tale with Master Heijiro, you’ll get the Song of Spirit. When played, this song will lead you to a hidden Bamboo Strike nearby. Bamboo Strikes are important because they increase your maximum Spirit.

How to Get Song of the Wolf in Ghost of Yotei
Song of the Wolf Location and Effects

- Location: Complete 4 Wolf Dens across Ezo
- Effect: Discover Wolf Dens locations.
Atsu can strengthen her connection with the wild wolf of Ezo, who frequently helps her in battles against the Saito Outlaws. To do this, she needs to learn a unique melody. The Song of the Wolf becomes available once players finish 4 Wolf Dens. There are a total of 10 Wolf Dens, and completing any combination of 4 will unlock the song. Here are some Wolf Dens that are relatively easy to locate, helping you obtain the Song of the Wolf more quickly:
- Green Hill Wolf Den: South of Lake Shikotsu in the Yotei Grasslands
- Great Mountain Wolf Den: Northwest of the Nupur River in the Yotei Grasslands
- Dying Fire Wolf Den: Above the “Y” in Nakogoya Spring, Ishikari Plain
- Old Wound Wolf Den: West of the Rumoi River in Ishikari Plain
The Song of the Wolf has several useful effects. First, playing it will lead you to nearby Wolf Dens that you haven’t found yet. Importantly, you can use the skill points earned from these Dens to unlock Primal Bond. This ability lets you play the Song of the Wolf *before* battles to call a wolf to fight alongside you.

- Location: Shamisen Practice, west of Rumoi River, Ishikari Plain
- Effects: Discover Hot Springs locations.
You can find the Song of Well-Being in the Ishikari Plain. This area of Ezo becomes available as you progress through the Main Tale, “The Oni”. Once Ishikari Plain is unlocked for exploration, head to the far north until you reach the Rumoi River. From there, go directly west, and you’ll find a Shamisen Practice spot – it’s on a rock on a hill. Sit on the straw cushion to start playing the shamisen. If you successfully complete the minigame, you’ll receive the Song of Well-Being. This song will then lead you to hidden Hot Springs, which can be used to increase your Maximum Health.

How to Get the Song of Shrines in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of Shrines Location and Effects

- Location: Activate a Camp in Ishikari Plain for a random chance for a Settler to visit and teach the song
- Effect: Discover Shrines of Reflection locations.
The Song of Shrines is difficult to find because it appears randomly, relying on chance. There isn’t a specific place to look for it, but you’ll generally have more success in the Ishikari Plain. Players can only obtain the song by approaching their horse and holding Up on the D-Pad. This sets up your Camp, and you need a Settler to appear and mention your shamisen; otherwise, you won’t learn the song. If the Settler doesn’t spawn, just fast travel to different areas and keep setting up your Camp until he arrives. Learning The Song of Shrines lets you locate nearby Shrines of Reflection, which are essential for upgrading Atsu’s abilities.
How to Get the Song of Revenge in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of Revenge Location and Effects

- Location: Musician’s Camp, Tokachi Range
- Effect: Discover Yotei Six Camps/Hideouts locations.
Travel into the Tokachi Range and head southeast from the Ohara Plains. Continue until you’re just north of Shizunai Woods, and you’ll find a Musician’s Camp. The camp appears empty, but the musician is actually playing a shamisen by the pond nearby. You can then donate 10 coins to him to learn the Song of Revenge. This song lets players find hidden Yotei Six Camps, and each of these camps always contains an Altar of Reflection.
How to Get the Song of the Ainu in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of the Ainu Location and Effects

- Location: Ainu’s Musician’s Camp, Yubari Lake, Tokachi Range
- Effect: Discover lost Ainu Items.
I discovered that you can find the Song of the Ainu up north, near Yubari Lake in the Tokachi Range. Right on the lake’s shore is the Ainu Musician’s Camp. If you talk to the musician there, it kicks off the Side Tale, “The Soul of an Instrument”. Once I finished that one, I had to head east to the Cukpet Hills in the Nayoro Wilds. That’s where the Cukpet Hills Campsite is, and it starts another Side Tale called “A Melody of Thoughts”. Completing *that* Side Tale finally taught me the Song of the Ainu! It turns out it’s really useful for tracking down all the missing Ainu Items, which is awesome.
