One Piece: Oda Has Officially Revealed Devil Fruit Awakenings That Can Rival Gear 5

Monkey D. Luffy is the main character in *One Piece*, and he’s become incredibly strong, particularly in the current, final arc of the story. Early on, Luffy ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a powerful Devil Fruit, and has since learned to fully control its abilities.

During the Wano Country arc, Luffy unlocked a new, incredibly powerful form by awakening his Devil Fruit, which was revealed to be the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This means Luffy can transform into the Sun God Nika with his Gear 5 transformation. While this power is exceptionally strong, other awakened Devil Fruits have the potential to become even more powerful.

Luffy Gained Gear 5 With His Awakening

During the intense battle with Kaido in Wano, Luffy came incredibly close to dying. Some believe he was briefly killed before being revived, which pushed him to surpass his previous limits. Kaido explained that true power awakens when a person’s body and mind are completely connected to their abilities. Luffy achieved this connection in Wano, allowing him to not only fight Kaido on equal footing, but even gain the upper hand at times. Ultimately, Luffy’s impressive performance against Kaido was largely due to his mastery of Gear 5.

The Yami Yami no Mi Awakening Can Break All Devil Fruits

Nullifies All Devil Fruit Powers

The Nika fruit is incredibly strong, but it isn’t as powerful as the Yami Yami no Mi. This Devil Fruit is famous for being able to negate the powers of *all* other Devil Fruits, thanks to its darkness ability. The only weakness is that it has to physically touch the other user to cancel out their powers. However, Awakening addresses this limitation.

I’ve been following Teach closely, and if he fully unlocks the potential of his Devil Fruit, it looks like he’ll be able to cancel out other Devil Fruit abilities just by being *near* the user. That’s a huge deal – it would even mean Luffy’s Gear 5 wouldn’t work against him.

The Gura Gura no Mi Can Destroy The World

Blackbeard also possesses the Gura Gura no Mi, a Devil Fruit considered to be the most powerful of its type. It allows the user to create massive earthquakes and tsunamis. This fruit is so strong it’s likened to an ancient weapon and could potentially destroy the world even without being fully mastered. If awakened, its power would likely increase dramatically, causing widespread destruction.

Imu’s Awakening Is The Power Of Evil

Imu is considered one of the most powerful characters in One Piece, and we’ve just begun to see what they can do in the Elbaf arc. Imu possesses a dangerous ability called the Power of Evil and uses a Spellbook to cast various spells. Even though we’ve only seen a small part of their full potential, they’re already stronger than Luffy in Gear 5. If Imu were to further develop their abilities, defeating them would be nearly impossible.
