Say Hello To The Strongest Haki User At The End Of One Piece

This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.

Red-Haired Shanks is one of the strongest characters in the world of *One Piece*, and is known as one of the Yonko – the four most powerful pirates. He was introduced early in the series, and his reputation has only grown since. It was confirmed around the Water 7 arc that Shanks was indeed a Yonko, and fans have since caught glimpses of just how powerful he is.

Shanks is undeniably one of the most powerful characters in the world of *One Piece*, and he’s reached that level without using a Devil Fruit. Unlike many strong fighters, Shanks relies solely on Haki. However, his Haki won’t remain unmatched forever, as a new generation of powerful characters is rising to challenge him.

Shanks’s Haki Is Unstoppable In One Piece

  • Shanks Has The Power To Use All Haki Types
  • His Haki Is Similar to Rocks And Roger’s

Throughout the story, it’s become obvious that Shanks is incredibly powerful when it comes to Haki. The author, Eiichiro Oda, highlighted this right after Shanks visited Whitebeard, and even Whitebeard and his crew acknowledged the strength of his Haki – a detail worth paying attention to. The events at Marineford really showed fans just how strong Shanks is, proving he can stand toe-to-toe with the most powerful characters.

I won’t argue that’s unfair, sailor. But attacking those young, budding leaves – the ones that signaled the end of the old ways of piracy? Isn’t that going too far? Are you really that scared of what’s coming next?

Kaido, a tremendously powerful character, personally ranked Shanks among the top five strongest individuals in the One Piece world. Adding to that, Shanks defeated Eustass Kid with a single blow – something even Kaido and Big Mom struggled to do. These feats clearly demonstrate that Shanks is one of the series’ strongest fighters, and he’s achieved this level of power using only Haki.

Interestingly, Shanks’ fighting style shares similarities with those of Rocks D. Xebec and Gol D. Roger. Oda revealed in Elbaf that Roger developed his technique from Rocks, utilizing Haki with his sword to deliver incredibly powerful blows – like a hammer or cannon – that devastated everything nearby. Shanks is one of just a few legendary pirates who can wield this ability.

Luffy Will Go Beyond Shanks In Haki Usage

Luffy Has To Reach Joy Boy Level

Although Shanks is known for having incredibly powerful Haki, it’s not unbeatable. Luffy needs to reach and even exceed Shanks’ level, and ultimately surpass Joy Boy, fulfilling a destiny Joy Boy himself couldn’t achieve. The expectations for Luffy are already very high, setting a clear path for his growth.

To become Pirate King, I have to defeat everyone – the Four Emperors and the Navy Admirals. — Luffy

To achieve his goals, Luffy needs to develop Haki comparable to the strongest users. The events on Egghead suggested that Joy Boy’s Haki might have been as powerful as, or even stronger than, Shanks’. If Luffy can reach that level of mastery, his path forward will become much clearer.

Luffy is destined to reach a level of Haki equal to Joy Boy, and potentially even exceed it. He’s on track to become the strongest Haki user in the entire One Piece world, and achieving this power is essential for him to finally surpass all others and deliver true freedom.
