Jujutsu Kaisen has become a massive success for Shonen Jump, quickly gaining a dedicated fanbase and becoming a popular manga series. Its blend of dark themes and fast-paced, action-packed fights is particularly captivating. The series is driven by its thrilling battles, and the fight against Sukuna, the King of Curses, featuring all the Jujutsu Sorcerers, stands out as the most memorable. This epic battle is also where the series’ most beloved team emerged.
Everyone expected Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi to be the main team, but after Gojo’s death, it was actually Yuji, Maki, and Yuta who stepped up to fight Sukuna.
Yuji, Yuta, And Maki Are Jujutsu Kaisen’s Strongest Trio

Watching the fight against Sukuna, the King of Curses, was intense. Things became incredibly difficult after he killed Gojo, and it felt like the weight of the world fell on the remaining Jujutsu Sorcerers. Everyone really pushed themselves, but a few people truly shone. Yuji, as the main character, fought with everything he had, and ultimately, he was the key to defeating Sukuna. It seemed his past connection to Sukuna, being a previous vessel, played a huge role in how things played out.
While Yuji played a key role, Yuta was also crucial in the fight. He bravely battled Sukuna, even using his powerful Domain Expansion technique, and later took control of Gojo’s body to continue the fight. Maki also made a significant impact, managing to surprise Sukuna and land a devastating blow with her Split Soul Katana, seriously wounding him. Together, Yuji, Yuta, and Maki became an incredible team after Gojo’s defeat, driving the story forward with their combined efforts.
Although Yuji was the central character in *Jujutsu Kaisen*, the story of *JJK Modulo* focuses on the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki, carrying on their family’s traditions. Promotional materials for *JJK Modulo* even feature Yuji, Maki, and Yuta more prominently than the original main characters from *Jujutsu Kaisen*.
Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi Had Potential But Fell Short
Nobara and Megumi were Ignored For Much Of The Story
Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi initially formed the core team in Jujutsu Kaisen, trained by Gojo and fighting alongside each other in the beginning. However, this dynamic quickly changed. After the Shibuya incident, the author removed Nobara from the story, and later, Megumi was also effectively removed when Sukuna took control of his body. While the trio briefly reunited during the final battle with Sukuna, it was too late to fully develop their teamwork or make them a significant force, particularly since Nobara and Megumi hadn’t been given much character development beforehand.
Although the *Jujutsu Kaisen* manga finished in late 2024, you can still read it online for free on Manga Plus, where new chapters originally appeared each week. If you’re interested in the new continuation, *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo*, it’s also available on Manga Plus with weekly releases. Chapter 6 of *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* is scheduled to come out on October 12, 2025.
