Silent Hill 2 Remake DLC May Not Be Coming After All

So, it’s looking like that DLC we’ve all been hoping for in the Silent Hill 2 remake might not happen, or at least not for a while. I was really excited about the possibility of playing through the ‘Born From a Wish’ story, but a voice actor involved has hinted things aren’t looking good. It’s a bummer, honestly, because a lot of us fans were expecting it to drop soon. Looks like we might be in for some disappointment.

The remake of the beloved horror game *Silent Hill 2* launched on October 8, 2024, faithfully preserving the original story. Shortly after celebrating the remake’s one-year anniversary, fans noticed the *Silent Hill 2* website suggested that additional installments might be in development, sparking hope for a return of the previously unreleased side story.

Silent Hill 2’s Born From a Wish DLC May Not Be Coming to the Remake

Back in early June, a reliable source named Dusk Golem reported that downloadable content (DLC) for the *Silent Hill 2* remake was in the works, and an announcement was expected soon. However, over three months later, Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, the voice actor for Maria in the game, has stated she’s unaware of any DLC project. During a recent Twitch stream where she played the game for the first time, Gunnarsdóttir responded to fan questions about the ‘Born From a Wish’ DLC by apologizing and explaining that she hasn’t recorded any new lines for it and has no further information.

If her statements are accurate, it seems the downloadable content is far from finished, and may not even be in development. The story ‘Born From a Wish’ offered a brief, separate narrative similar to *Silent Hill 2*, focusing on the character Maria, and its ending connects with the main game when she encounters James Sunderland. Originally, this story wasn’t sold as DLC; it was included with special editions and re-releases of the game, starting in December 2021 when it was first released on Xbox.

Gunnarsdóttir might have been intentionally vague to avoid revealing the news before Bloober Team and Konami were ready. Leaks, especially from voice actors, can be tricky in the gaming world. If this DLC is in development and Gunnarsdóttir knows about it, she may have been told exactly what she could and couldn’t say.
