Avatar: The Last Airbender, the popular animated series that aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, is still widely loved. Its exciting action and memorable characters were a hit when it first came out, and its popularity soared again during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with a new movie and TV show on the way, the franchise is continuing to thrive. Although previous video games haven’t been very successful, a new game has been announced, and it’s the type of game fans have been hoping for.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced By Paramount, Releasing Summer 2026

The first trailer for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game just dropped, giving us a preview of this new fighting game set in the Avatar universe. The gameplay appears to be hand-drawn 2D, and features beloved characters like Aang, Zuko, Sokka, Azula, and Toph. While Korra from The Legend of Korra is shown, it’s currently unknown if she will be a playable fighter. The game will launch with 12 characters, and additional fighters will be added over time with seasonal updates.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will focus on dynamic movement and tell a brand new story. Like most modern fighting games, it will include reliable online play with good netcode and allow players on different platforms to compete. The game is being created by Paramount and Gameplay Group, the team behind Them Fighting Herds. The title is currently working, and could be subject to change. More features will be revealed at a later date. It’s scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PC (through Steam), PlayStation 4 & 5, and Xbox Series X|S in Summer 2026.

A Steam page is now available where players can add the game to their wishlist. Fans have been wanting an *Avatar* fighting game for a long time, and *Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game* seems poised to deliver. Although it won’t be released until Summer 2026, the game appears to be shaping up nicely.
