In Dying Light: The Beast, players can discover a variety of powerful, legendary weapons, including some that pay homage to classic games. One standout is the Ciupaga Axe, which is inspired by the Leviathan Axe from God of War. Although it doesn’t have ice powers, it behaves similarly – you can throw it, and it will return to you, even after hitting an enemy. Plus, using this axe allows you to easily collect crafting materials from those you defeat. Here’s how to find it.
Ciupaga Axe Location in Dying Light: The Beast
Okay, so I found this awesome axe, the Ciupaga Axe, pretty early in *Dying Light: The Beast*. It’s located near the Monastery, which is where Kyle starts things off. But heads up – you need to be around level six and have done a bit of the story first, otherwise the axe won’t actually show up where it’s supposed to be.
When you’re prepared, go southeast from the Monastery – check the map above for the exact spot – until you find a large house with wooden beams in *Dying Light: The Beast*. Be ready to fight off several zombies around the house before you approach.
When you’re finished, walk around to the east side of the house. You’ll notice a foundation that slopes upwards towards the balcony on the second floor.
Go through the balcony door and turn left, continuing to run until you reach a clear space with two rocking chairs. From there, jump and grab onto the wooden beams to the left of the chimney, then climb up to the small platform. Next, jump to the platform on the right and follow it as it wraps around the house.
When you get to the edge, look down to find another ledge that runs sideways. Climb down to that lower ledge and follow it until you see a small balcony directly above you.
In *Dying Light: The Beast*, you can find the Ciupaga Axe by climbing onto the balcony and carefully balancing on the wooden railing. Look above the balcony doorway – the axe is hanging there. Once you take it, you’ll also get the plans to craft a stronger version later when you gain more experience.
You can now throw the Ciupaga Axe by aiming first. On Xbox, hold the “LT” button, and on PlayStation, hold “L2”. If you’re using a keyboard and mouse, right-click to aim and press “F” to throw. The axe will automatically return to you after hitting an enemy, and it even works if you throw it at empty space in *Dying Light: The Beast*.
The Ciupaga Axe in Dying Light: The Beast is heavily inspired by the Leviathan Axe from God of War. Its in-game description even playfully references this, stating: “In case of throwing, return to sender.”
