This article contains spoilers from the Naruto and Boruto series.
Sasuke Uchiha is a hugely popular character, not only in the *Naruto* series but throughout the world of anime. He’s considered one of the best supporting characters, with a storyline that resonates with fans just as much as the main character, Naruto’s. His current absence from the story, as seen in the *Boruto* series, is genuinely disappointing for many viewers.
Sasuke Uchiha left the village of Konoha towards the end of the first part of the *Boruto* series. The series then jumped forward in time, and instead of returning with Boruto as many fans anticipated, it was revealed that Sasuke had been defeated and was unable to fight. Ever since, fans have been eagerly awaiting his comeback. Sadly, it looks like Sasuke fans will have to wait a long time – at least two years – before seeing him return.

During the time jump in the *Boruto* series, Sasuke and Boruto underwent intense training, becoming significantly stronger. Sasuke notably battled Code and his Claw Grimes, ultimately overpowering him and even removing his left eye, demonstrating his improved abilities. However, despite his strength, Sasuke was eventually overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies and was bitten by a Claw Grimes, which tragically turned him into a tree.

Sasuke is currently unable to fight, and the key to saving him lies in dealing with a powerful entity called Hidari. However, defeating Hidari won’t be easy. He possesses almost all of Sasuke’s abilities, making him incredibly strong. Even Boruto, at his peak, couldn’t defeat Hidari, and Hidari has only grown more powerful since then. It will likely take a significant amount of time before Hidari is finally defeated in the Boruto storyline.

Sasuke Will Return After Shinju Are Defeated
It Will Be Years Before They’re Dealt With

Sasuke Uchiha’s return depends on defeating the remaining Shinju. Currently, there are three Shinju left. One, Bug, will probably be defeated in the current Boruto story arc, leaving Hidari and Jura as the biggest threats. It’s likely these two will team up to attack Konoha and be defeated in the same arc. This means that after the current arc concludes, Jura and Hidari will likely be defeated, paving the way for Sasuke Uchiha’s return.

The current story arc is expected to last at least 10 chapters, and the next one will likely be even longer, around 10 to 15 chapters, as it will focus on two very powerful characters. This means fans shouldn’t expect to see Sasuke return for at least two years, which is disappointing news.
I’m looking forward to the next chapter of *Boruto: Two Blue Vortex*, and it’s scheduled to come out on October 20, 2025. It will be released at 10 AM Eastern Time, or 3 PM UTC. Like usual, fans will be able to read it for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app when it’s available.
