Pokémon GO is introducing new rewards for leveling up on October 15th. They’re also updating how leveling works, raising the maximum Trainer level to 80. These changes are designed to make it quicker and more satisfying to progress in the game.
Many *Pokémon GO* players aim to reach the highest possible level. It takes dedication to hit the level cap, but players can earn experience points by catching Pokémon and hatching eggs. The game also frequently features events that offer even more ways to level up. After over nine years, some players have reached level 50. However, the game developers plan to continue adding new challenges and goals for the community.

Pokémon GO is adding a new way to earn XP with the Daily Adventure Egg! Each day when you log in, you’ll automatically receive an egg that hatches after walking just 1 kilometer, giving you 10,000 XP. This egg is available for players level 15 and up, and you can only have one incubating at a time. Additionally, it will now be easier for players level 70 and above to become Lucky Friends with their Best Friends.

Pokémon GO is updating how players level up, meaning the amount of XP needed to reach each level is changing. The new maximum level will be 80, requiring 203,353,000 XP to achieve. Starting October 15th, players won’t need to complete Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41-50 anymore. Instead, these tasks will be available for levels 71-80. The developer will recalculate everyone’s level based on the XP they’ve already earned, but no one will lose a level – players level 23 and above are guaranteed to reach a higher level.

October is looking like a fantastic month for the game, especially with some big changes coming to how leveling works! The Harvest Festival is happening now until October 16th, and on October 21st, the first part of the *Pokémon GO* Halloween 2025 event will begin, introducing Poltchageist and Sinistcha. Plus, the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event kicks off on October 16th to coincide with the new game’s release on Switch and Switch 2. We hope all these events give players plenty of chances to earn XP and level up their Trainers.
